Some very indifferent beers this week, so it was a relief to have a couple of excellent pints of Harveys in the village club - nothing fancy, but about the best of best bitters in regular production.

A decent week with more hits than misses:

Fernandes - Jackdaw Mild.
Milton - Nero.
Thwaites - Bloomin Ale.
Rudgate - Jorvik Blonde.
Nook - Bees Knees.
Titanic - Anchor.
Fernandes - Wakefield Pride.
Fernandes - Chrome Dome.
York - Constantine.

A two horse race between the Jackdaw and the Chrome Dome, with the latter just shading it. BOTW Fernandes Chrome Dome.

A mixed week including:
Hereford Muttley Springer
Aston Distressway Aston's Pride
Dark Star Espresso
Bass
TT Landlord
Oakham Bishops Farewell
Derby Bees Knees

Special mentions for the Espresso and ever excellent Bishops Farewell but BOTW was the excellent pint of Bass in The Green Man, Willington.

A few good ones this weekend:

Brewdog 5am Saint (Port St Beer House, Manchester)
Thwaites Wainwright (Piccadilly Wetherspoons, Manchester) - despite being out of a plastic container
Up the Aisle (Odder Bar, Manchester)
Thornbridge Kipling (Scarborough Hotel, Leeds)
Yorkshire Blonde (Aire Bar, Leeds)

I also had a couple of very good bottles on train from Manchester to Leeds, a Goose Island IPA and Snake Dog Flying Dog.

I'll put Yorkshire Blonde as my BotW..it went down very well while watching the Reds regain their crown.

Good night last night ,

Pictish - Palisade
Pictish - Blue Moon
Pictish - Black Diamond
Empire - Orion
Elland - Albino Kangaroo
Kinver - The Noble 600

Love the tag line for the Albino Kangaroo , its Pale and Hoppy , the Blue Moon was very easy to drink for a 6% though not that popular with Stoke fans for some reason;) ,
BOTW is Pictish Palisade , very drinkable

This is, I hope, a one-off, my BotW is Ringwood Best, on account of it bein the only beer I've drunk for the best part of three week. I only got one in before the local cricket club arrived in celebratory mode, bragging points had, I gather, been won. Some time after midnight I came off the Shiraz and Guinness, fell into a hire car and came home..........
Very soon, however, about ten minutes or so, I'll be takin on board a few hairs of the dog that bit :drinkup:

Was a fairly quiet week apart from a session at the Southampton Arms on Wednesday and a lengthy session on Saturday. Some close calls with Irving Frigate, Fyne Creel ale, Pontypridd Croeso, St Peters Organic Best, Butcombe Mendip Spring, Otter Bright, Ossett Yorkshire Blonde, Thwaites Wainwright, Meantime Pale Ale, Westerham Matrimoniale and a couple of Imperial Russian Stouts all in the mix. I will opt for the Bartram Imperial Russian Stout although I only had a half (it was 6.9% - the weakest one on offer at the Dial Arch!) but very good.

Having spent Friday in the near beer desert that is Oldham, this weeks choice has been a bit reduced.

Mallinsons Mission Bell Mild & Banks's Ruby Mild were both excellent in The Baum.

Ossett By George was also very good in the Oldham beer oasis of the Ashton Arms.

I was drinking a decent pint of Hobgoblin when Utd won the league, so that gets a chance. :manutdfc:

But BOTW is going to be George Wright Mild in the Regal Moon. At 4% it's probably close to the upper limit for a proper mild, but it was very smooth & tasty.

A few old favorites in contention this week, with Butcombe Gold and Bowmans Eldorado both coming close, as well as my first pint of mild in the shape of Concrete Cow Black Monk, but BOTW goes, for a second time this year, to the outstanding Fyne Ales Jarl - now, much to my delight, a regular at the Cricketers in Addiscombe.

Plymouth City Roller Girls' Skullcrusher,

How could anyone not want a pint of that!
