Decent enough week , started on Monday at the Brooklands in Shrewsbury , showcasing Shropshires top brews , London Pride and Speckled Hen:moremad: luckily in the ground they serve Wood Shropshire Lad ,
Tried to avoid the wedding but failed , Accorn - Up the Aisle , Sailtare - Nuptuale ,
TSA - Golden Torpedo , Mallinsons - Light Fandango and Ascot - Aardvark complete the weeks drinking , apart from Shugborough - Dark Wheat , the worst beer i have had for years

This week has been a day in Oxford and a couple of days at Reading beer festival. Best beers this week were at the festival and for me BOTW will be Dorking Winter Ruby 5.2%. Fantastic flavours.

Irrespective of what I may or may not have today I'm going to declare my BotW as Tring Brewery's Death or Glory, named after the regimental motto of the Queens Royal Lancers. Normally it is only brewed once a year on 25th October, the anniversary of the Charge of the Light Brigade. Whether this was a special brew or a barrel that had been kept back I'm not sure but I had it at a beer festival run by a pub that supports Tring as one of it's local breweries. 7.2% of pure gorgeousness

A good few days drinking this week Saltaire South Island Pale was excellent but BOTW could only be Black Sheep Imperial Russian Stout, a lovely 8.5% stout. The reason for its being brewed is here (http://www.wix.com/seanor/gba#!).

Big drinky week with Bexley Beer Festival, Rose's Beer Festival in Woolwich and an away day in Maidenhead which, with the help of all the wedding beers (that I did actually try to avoid) has ended in 26 new beers shoved down my gob since last Sunday. Picking one is tough but I'll go for the Conwy Honey Fayre at the Bexley Beer Festival.

Another fairly quiet week, but some of the beers were excellent. Tried this week:

Sarah Hughes -Dark Ruby.
Timothy Taylor - Landlord.
Imperial* - Imperial Blonde.
Five Towns - All Ale To Our Lass.
Ossett - Big Red.
Great Heck - Equinox.
Golcar - Dark Mild.
Milestone - St George's Legend.

Particularly enjoyed the Sarah Hughes and Five Towns, but the mild was on stunning form. BOTW Golcar - Dark Mild.

* For those who haven't heard of Imperial and are curious, it's a micro based at a club in Mexborough, South Yorkshire.

I'm Going Green with envy here. Ive not had a Pint or Bottle of Beer in the last ten days due to working all these long shitfs over both bank holidays without a day off. Well will I need too make up for it tomorrow Tuesday it will be the first days drinking in Eleven Days. I think the first will go down quick like this.

A lot to go at this week:
Bass
Oakham Bishops Farewell
Old Mill Blonde Bombshell
Joules Pale Ale
Abbeydale Absolution
Backyard IPA
Blue Monkey BG Sips, 99 Red Babboons, Something Blue
Sarah Hughes Surprise
Old Cottage Halcyon Daze
Burton Bridge Stairway to Heaven
Holdens Golden Glow
Thornbridge Jaipur, Chiron and Kipling
Marstons Old Empire
Theakstons Best
Brunswick Emerald Express
Whim Snow White
Alcazar Alcazar Ale and Fox Tale Ale
Chuch End Vicars Ruin
Falstaff Norman Bates
Brains Milkwood

Everything from Blue Monkey, Thornbridge and Alcazar was excellent and the Brains, Burton Bridge and Brunswick offerings very disappointing. BOTW by a short head was Thornbridge Chiron.

We've been in Belfast for a few days so the choice has been a bit limited.

Clan Connell - McGraths Irish Black was very good tried in the Bridge House in Belfast. The best run JDW I've been in for some time (Regal Moon excepted of course).

We had to come home to get any real choice though.

Wharfebank Aztec Dark was good in the Regal Moon. York Willamette also had a chance.

But BOTW is going to be Vale Gravitas, tried several times on Friday/Saturday in The Baum.

Doing very little drinking at the moment, I'm concentrating on other things at the moment. One denies me alcohol, the other being impecunity which has the same effect more or less. My beer of the week-Old Thumper, it's the only decent one I got close to........

Some interesting beers to pick from this week, thanks mostly to the 'revolutionary beers' festival at the Hope, Carshalton.

Westerham Alt Ego was a drinkable, German-style old ale, Thornbridge Branta a decent ESB, Art Brew Spanked Monkey IPA had too much chilli/pepper to enjoy more than a half and Downton Apple Blossom was a bit too sweet, but otherwise quite tasty.

BOTW comes down to a choice of three though: Marble Porter, Titanic Nine Tenths Below and Thornbridge St Petersburg. A tough call but I'll give it to the Titanic Nine Tenths Below.

As I have been drinking in Mr Phat's company ,his extensive list was largely replicated by myself ,although I did have a crafty few pints in Atherstone as well before he arrived on board;) As a consequence I am feeling a little delicate today and somewhat horrified by the consumption last week:nishelypished:.However there was outstanding quality and only a few duff pints,my BOTW was Blue Monkey BG Sips on stillage at The Duke of York Beer Festival in Lichfield and on handpump in The Smithfield ,Derby.
