I have added a new pub, The Byron, at 2 Market Street, Mansfield NG18 1JQ, with a photo taken on Saturday. I'm pretty sure this is the right address; check out this link for details of the planning consent that the owners (Metz bars/Daniel Thwaites) had to obtain: http://www.mansfield.gov.uk/Fastweb/detail.asp?AltRef=2010/0334/ST

However, one of the pubs I couldn't find when I was in Mansfield was The Bootlicker (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/30596/),
Market Street, Mansfield NG18 1JG, and I think this may in fact be the previous name of the same pub. The postcode is slightly different, but this pub is listed as being at 2 Market Street on the pubsulike website and at http://www.zettai.net/find/mansfield/public-houses-bars-and-inns/. Royal Mail lists the 1JG postcode as starting further along Market Street, so it may have been quoted incorrectly.

Whether it's a wrong postcode or a wrong address, I couldn't see a Bootlicker pub on Market Street when I was there, so either I've created a duplicate or the Bootlicker is no longer there. I suggest you delete it.

Cheers

Hi sheffield hatter and Conrad,

The picture you took of the Byron was the Bootlicker and it was a Thwaites house i went in this pub on the 26 March 2005 and it was really bad pub so any new incarnatoin must be better than the Bootlicker.

Hi Al,

Thanks for confirming my thoughts about the Bootlicker/Byron. I didn't go in, so I can't say whether it's any better. It's part of the Metz Bar chain, which is owned by Thwaites. I think we can probably agree that the name, at least, is an improvement! :)
