The Old Butcher Arm (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/6767/) is more correctly called The Old Butchers Arms. Despite being a Good Beer Guide entry as recently as 2003, it was closed down around 2004/5 and is now a private house. Please amend the name - I have requested it to be shown as closed. I'll get a photo next time I'm out that way, but it is literally miles from anywhere.

Cheers

Hi sheffield hatter,

We have corrected the name of The Old Butchers Arms (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/6767/).

Thanks for that.

It looks like I was misinformed about the demise of this pub. See this website (http://www.bestpubs.co.uk/layout0.asp?pub=116325) where there are reviews from 2005 to 2008. I was out that way yesterday and took a photo which I have posted. The place looked closed and decrepit, but perhaps that's just how it looks. The sign still clings desparately to the wall above the entrance, but it could have been left up for nostalgic reasons rather than to attract custom. Actually, let's face it, the sign doesn't attract custom - the place looks closed. However, as it was 2.30 on a Tuesday afternoon, when a lot of country pubs around here are shut anyway, I'm beginning to wonder if we should restore this pub's open status until such time as someone tries to get served here and is turned away because it has closed?

Always prefer to be accused by the public of a wrongly open listing than by the licensee of a falsely closed listing. I see what you mean, the pub looks closed, and then has what looks like new furniture outside.

Marked it as open now.
