Nah, this is Pubs Galore, you are after Puns Galore, an easy mistake. Just carry on down the street and take the second left.

Right, I have passed by many times, looks a bit, ermm, shall we say, "iffy"

However, as a service to all, I will take it upon myself to pop in there next year [nice & vague that]

Conrad - can we have a diary function on the site please, so we can hold Farway to that?

I like the idea of diary function, as long as it does not involve me that is

From the Pompey pubs web site, does not appear to be outstanding, unless you love buildings, do I hear a few takers here?

It is universal, to be honest I have not really played with it, FILO really was the master of the forum, and he has not been around recently

The coat of arms for Linlithgow where this pub is situated contains a Black Bitch (Black female dog) against an oak tree, hence the name of the pub.

Imagine saying to your dad "Fancy a pint down at Bitch?" or "Black Bitch was heaving on Saturday night" etc etc..

Thank god my local is simply called "The Fox" otherwise I would get worried look from other people..

Hi Edmon

Thanks for that - i take it it is nothing to do with Mary Queen of Scots, wasn't she born in the palace?

please stick some reviews up - i dont think we get much from Scotland. I did a few for Annan, Newton Stewart and Glasgow when last up:cheers:

Hi Edmon,

Thanks for that, there is no way there wasn't going to be a good explanation to that. I have to admit the most shocking I can remember is the Fighting Cocks, that became the Happy Cocks before closing (Dave can correct me if I am mis-remembering).

Anyway, good to hear from you on the forum, thanks for all your pictures and corrections, especially as one of the trio who is making Scotland actually useful on our site, it was a horrible out of date mess.

In case you don't know I am one of the admins on the site, so if there is anything you would like to see on the site or think would improve it I would love to know. I also think I should introduce Hopwas who is our local bar stool warmer on the forum, guaranteed to have a chat if you fancy some banter. ;)

Hi Edmon..

Pardon me! Welcome to PG (short for Pubsgalore) and reviews, pictures would be badly needed for Scotland section. Feel free to add them.

Went to Scotland twice, been to Edinburgh (what a beautiful and cracking place for pubs), Aberdeen, Inverness, Elgin and few others. I particularly enjoyed Pint of 80- and 90- which is top notch.

Oh I am covering North Midlands along with Soupy (Soup dragon)

Enjoy your stay at PG!

Fighting Cocks, any connection to the Fawcett Inn? Which BTW I have yet to enter as it was tightly closed when I attempted to penetrate the dark interior [smirk]

The worst bit is I used to work with a programmer who would test his programs with the sample address:

Mary Likes
The Cockwell Inn
Tillit
Herts

So you would think I might have spotted that, I blame it on not enough beer.

then he had to see 56620 (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/56620/) followed by a trip to 58750 (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/58750/); he should have shopped here (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/55536/) first really.
