A bit of variety this week for a change:
Salopian Darwin Origin
Abbeydale Temptation
TT Landlord
Fullers London Pride and ESB
Slaters Haka
Oakham Bishops Farewell

An honourable mention for the Abbeydale Temptation which slipped down very easily, Abbeydale do seem to brew consistently good ale. BOTW though goes to Salopian Darwin Origin, a well balanced amber beer which is distinctly citrussy and bitter enough to demand another pint. Very drinkable at 4.5% and from a brewery I've never come across before. I'll certainly try more of their ales in future is this is anything to go by.

Damn! They had this on in Harry's Bar, Wakefield last night. With only time for one more, it was a choice betwen DO and Bob's 'Smokestack', an unusual smoke flavoured pale ale. Feeling adventurous, I opted for the latter, but it was way too overpowering. Wish I'd gone for the Salopian now!

An easy choice this week. The Crown 'Brooklyn Heights' was a fabulous big American Pale Ale. It's the second excellent beer I've had from Crown recently, with 'Samuel Berry's' very nearly BOTW two weeks ago. I'm definitely becoming a fan.

Bristol Beer festival on Friday :cheers:

Amongst many sampled the stand out from the crowd were:

Bristol Brewers Collaboration, 7.0%
Arbor Yakima Valley 7.3%
Arbor Breakfast Stout 7.4%
Marble Ginger 5.0%
Dark Star American Pale Ale 4.7%
Salopian Oracle 4.0%
Yeovil Stout Hearted 4.3%

But for me the BOTW was Salopian Oracle 4.0%, a golden ale with good balance and a beer I would drink all night if I hadn't have been at a festival.

That's up against some stiff competition, I've tried both the Ginger and the American Pale Ale and they're both excellent. Salopian seem to be on form at the moment.

Well Elland 1872 Porter was on top form again at the Regal Moon on Friday.

Leadmill Niagra at Port St Beer House (Mcr), Hornbeam Captain Reckless at The Baum and Beartown Black Bear at The Molly House (Mcr) also made a bid.

I think this weeks BOTW is going to be Two Towers Mild & Brazen tried at The Gaslamp in Manchester. :cheers:

Just 2 sessions this week - I'm being a good boy. The first, a pre gig 'Spoons in Islington threw up a rather tasty Newmans Red Castle Cream which would have been BotW except for appearance the Exmoor Beast at Dartford's Paper Moon last night and I am still suffering the aftershocks this morning.

Always good to get the boat moving,which has created a bit more variety but also the risk of a few pints of hobsons choice with an iffy Bombardier topping the list.:sick:

However my BOTW was Timothy Taylor Ram Tam ,familiar to those up north but rare in the SE. Supped in The Dove,London Fields which was featuring four of their range as guests.

A very quiet week this week with just four beers to pick from: Brewdog Edge, Fullers Bengal Lancer and London Porter and WJ King King's Old Ale.

Brewdog Edge comes out on top (as it did during the 'Spoons festival last year), despite the ever reliable London Porter making a fine Guinness substitute on St Patrick's Day.
