They've put all this in my local chain pub, green bunting and godknowswhat everywhere has appeared today.

WTF is Irish about VK Blue and cider? And I daren't contemplate what Paddy Colada might be.

Hope the telly's good on Thursday.

Both Marstons and Pitcher & Piano are giving away vouchers for a free pint of Guinness, and you don't actually have to go in on St Patricks Day to claim it - you have the rest of the month...

Why do these pub chains presume that English people wish to celebrate St Patricks Day. Good luck to the Irish and those of Irish descent and enjoy your day. I just dont get why English pubs want to jump on the bandwagon (well i do really). Lets hope they put the same gusto into St Georges Day.

Yep, got my Marston's one all ready to go, not my favourite pint or pub but free beer is free beer, and is sort of on my route home

So I take it you'll be in Molloys on Thursday then?

Last year the press had a field day on a pub that put flags out for St George's Day as they were in trouble in case the flags incited riots.

Ah go-on, there'll be beer (or something loosely resembling it) and gurrls (or something loosely resembling them).

To be fair they have 3 handpulls in there now since the rebranding. Deuchars IPA, Hooky Bitter and another that I can't recall right now.

gurrls (or something loosely resembling them).
Well one of my young lady friends asked if I fancied going there with her tonight. Ahhh, I see what you mean.

And to think I was initially going to go with 'or something loose resembling them' :p

I was tempted into the Hammersmith Ram with a voucher for a free pint of Guinness, and (much to my surprise) found a calm and pleasant atmosphere with a band of local musicians playing some fine old Irish tunes. No nonsense at all, in fact!

With 2 nicely poised Europa League matches at 6pm and 8pm I was hoping for a decent evening sprawl in front of the telly far away from any emerald shenanigans...until I got home to find an area cable fault had knocked our TV out for the evening . At least the Scouse game was on Channel 5 so only half a disaster.

I think domestic performances could be seen as 100% unmitigated disasters, no halves about it.

I find that drinking Guinness a lot like chewing burnt toast. An acquired taste that I never had. No , not even for free.
