The Wheatsheaf (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/43449/), 345 Ecclesall Road South, Sheffield has been a Toby Carvery for some time now, and has dropped the old name of the pub entirely. It is now "The Parkhead Toby Carvery", "The Toby Carvery at Parkhead", "Toby Carvery, The Parkhead", or the "Toby Carvery Parkhead", depending which reference or review you believe. There is a cricket club next door which is called Parkhead CC, but don't let this influence you. ;)

If the criterion is "what does the pub sign say", then it's the Toby Carvery (with Parkhead in smaller letters below), but the sign was too ugly to be photographed. Hope this helps. :D

Hi sheffield hatter,

Depends on your definition of help really ;). As we hate Toby Carvery's here (simply because they lack orginality) we have just deleted it.

Or maybe it was renamed Toby Carvery Parkhead (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/43449/), but it wouldn't have deserved it.

Thanks for that.

So in one version of reality it's been deleted but in an alternative universe it lives on? Like it!

I prefer to think of it as being in an indeterminate state until you check it. Upon checking it it collapse into either a state with a new name, or a deletion.

You can never be quite sure until you look at the site though.

So, a sort of Schrödinger's pub then?

Hi Conrad and Sheffield Hatter,

Sorry to butt in on this thread i have been in that pub and i have listed it as the Parkhead as it says that on the sign,i know its a toby carvery which i probably dislike more than both of you.
Here is my argument: If you go into a Shepherd Neame pub the sign will say the pubs name and the brewery name but you would'nt call the pub Shepherd Neame Parkhead or Parkhead Shepherd Neame this goes for any brewery.
So why add toby carvery to the pubs name.

Hopefully Dave will duck in on this one. But my reply with my understanding of it is that quite few of the Toby's have no name, and others are just named after their placement. So we can't fully exclude the Toby Carvery name from the system. As to this one I guess we could call it Parkhead, I am inclined to leave the Toby Carvery on as a warning though.
