The listing for Plumpers has a slightly incorrect address. We have Bawtry Road S9 1WD but the Sheffield History (http://www.sheffieldhistory.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=7573) website has it at Plumpers Road, Tinsley - which makes sense.

Royal Mail's postcode finder gives S9 1UP as the correct postcode for this, and it seems that the pub is now the American Golf Centre. Can anyone confirm this is the same building as the pub? Or there's a cafe on the opposite corner - see Google maps street view - could that have been the pub (the building looks a bit big for a cafe)? Neither of them look very likely, but if one of them is the now defunct Plumpers, I'll go and take a photo of it - I missed it today when I was out that way because I was looking for it on Bawtry Road. :(

I've moved the map point and requested the pub be marked as closed. Can you please amend the details.

Thanks

Conrad

Hi Conrad and Sheffield hatter,

There were two pubs in Shefield called Plumpers,Plumpers Hotel was an estate type pub and its address was listed as sheffield road/200 bawtry road.

The other Plumpers wasan old corner pub that closed in 1990 and its address was 42 greystock road/36 sutherland road in Sheffield 4.

The pub listed as 200 bawtry road is now a golf shop.

Cheers Alan

Thanks for that info Alan. I think Bawtry Road must have changed quite a bit because the golf shop is listed by Royal Mail as being on Plumpers Road, and the remaining section of Bawtry Road is the other side of the motorway. I'll get a photo of the golf shop next time I'm out that way, unless you've got a photo of it from when it was a pub?

Cheers
