I am puzzled by the entry for The Sportsmans Inn (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/6338/), Springfield Stainton, Penrith CA11 0EE. Having passed through here on a bus last December and not seen a pub, I have recently checked Google maps and Royal Mail's postcode website. Springfield appears to be the name of a bungalow, one of many lining the road on the edge of this village. The bungalows must be at least 40 years old, I would say. If there was a pub here, it is long gone.

I hesitate to mark it as closed in the absence of any other information. Any thoughts?

I wonder if the postcode is wrong and this is the pub a couple of miles along the A66? Hence duplication?

I thought of that, but the postcode is not really similar. Also, the address is very specific: Springfield is one of a number of bungalows along this road, so it looks like someone has picked the one that is closest to the site of the now defunct pub. Perhaps Conrad knows the source of the information. If there was a pub here it should be marked as closed, but if the information is simply wrong it should be deleted.

I am none the wiser, it is one of our original listings, so could well just be to do with a business that was registered there at some point. I think it makes sense to delete it though (and indeed have).

Thanks for that and all the research.
