I'm not adverse to a free pint of beer, so perhaps it would be useful to have a place for people to mention any special offers that they become aware of.

So here's one to start - visit this page and register to get a free pint from Marstons from a partcipating pub (you can select from a list of those nearest whatever postcode you enter):

A lot of Youngs pubs have done this in previous years, so its worth getting on the individual e-mail list operated by each participating pub.

The Fuller's Brewery Tour is currently featuring in the Days Out Guide/South West Trains 2 for 1 booklet, valid until 30 April. You have to travel by train, and if you pay in advance by credit card the price is £10 for two. I did the tour yesterday and the "tasting" session at the end lasted nearly an hour, and it's obviously unthinkable that any forum contributor would be unable to neck a fiver's worth of ale in an hour!

Not in the Brook Green Hotel it wasn't - dead as a dodo after work with a bunch of bored-looking poeple (who I took to be staff) in their Oirish get-up gloomily drinking halves of Guinness at the bar. So it was a quick pint of the black stuff (which isn't the easiest thing to drink in a hurry, even if free) and I was off...

Got my free pint & buffet as well

On Monday 28th March 2011, Fuller’s will be holding a special ‘Open Afternoon’ at the Hampshire Hog in Clanfield, Hants, to mark the release of our brand new seasonal ale for April, Spring Sprinter.

Between 2pm to 6pm, we will be giving away samples of this fantastic new beer to see what you all think. We will have brewers available to talk to about its creation and a bit of a buffet available too. Guests are welcome to pop in for as much or as little of the afternoon as they like.

The Hampshire Hog has ample parking and can be found here: www.fullers.co.uk/rte.asp?id=4&itemid=143&task=view

Many thanks for your interest in our new beer – we hope you have a lovely time and most of all, enjoy the beer!

Not strictly a voucher, but if anyone in North or West Yorkshire fancies a free Belgian beer glass, Market Town Taverns have a "Connoisseurs' Beer Card'. Simply pick up a card at any MTT and get it stamped anytime you buy a Connoisseurs beer. 15 stamps gets you a free glass BUT you must get it at the MTT you got the card from. Beers appear to be bottled/draught Chimay, Duvel, Liefmanns, Anchor Steam, Schnieder Wiesse and Erdinger. Not sure of the validty period but I picked up a card in the newest outlet.

- All day off peak (after 9:30 during week and all day at the weekends) travel on Southern services between Hastings and Southampton on the South Coast.

In fact, you can also get to (or from, if more convenient) Ashford - handy if you're going to try to include the Red Lion (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/59104/) at Snargate.

- All major bus companies included.

It seems not - in fact, not only does the list seem to be highly restricted to a number of (admittedly useful) services, but it also includes Eastbourne Buses, which was taken over by Stagecoach at least 2 years ago. Approach with caution, I'd say!

Details (http://www.southernrailwaytickets.com/main.php?page_id=281) & Ts & Cs (http://www.southernrailwaytickets.com/main.php?page_id=296).

If you're pubbing on the South Coast, you may want to look at a Brighton PlusBus, which now includes Lewes, and can also get you to Portslade (Stanley (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/53630/)) & Shoreham (Buckingham (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/39760/) & Wellington (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/53661/)). Won't be necessary if you're going no further than the Evening Star of course. Just £2 more than your train ticket.

Would be great to meet up with you both, if circumstances allow. PSM are you staying in Wakefield, or passing through on the way to a match somewhere?

One thing to bear in mind, is that most of the better Wakefield pubs don't tend to open until late afternoon, on a weekday. However, there are some decent ones that open early in the suburbs, a short bus ride away. That's what Quinno and I did the other week. Will recommend places / routes based on your time of arrival.

I'll be passing through en route to Huddersfield. I'm not too sure how the weekend will pan out, but my initial idea was to travel up Saturday morning, watch the match and do Huddersfield and with a bit of luck, Linthwaite afterwards. Then on Sunday do the Navigation Tavern in Mirfield, maybe the West Riding RR, and a quick stroll round Wakefield with the Fernandes Brewery Tap top of my list. No idea if that's do-able, especially in light of the opening times.
It would be great to meet up, especially if you can navigate me around the Westgate Run!

Mirfield is on the line to Wakefield, from Huddersfield. However, Dewsbury is on the line to Leeds, so you'd need to either double back on yourself or carry on to Leeds before catching another train down to Wakey. I'll let you wade through the time tables, all online at www.wymetro.com. Have a look at the day rover tickets, which offer unlimited bus and train travel in West Yorkshire for £6.20, or £5.70 for trains only. Provisionally, Sunday sounds good, so may be able to meet you before Wakefield. Fine tune nearer the time.

My travel plans have changed next weekend and I now have a ticket London-Stockport going begging if anyone can use it.
Mon 16Feb, dep Euston 10:00, arr Stockport 2 hours later. It's only one-way, but a single rtn for same day is still available from £18. So, if anyone wants to know why I bang on about the Crown, (and I can throw in another half dozen worthies in the area), and can use it, let me know...

Last bump if anyone wants cheap-ish transport for a day in Stockport or Manchester... rtn tkt still available at £18 (on the 20:23)

Not every ones choice I know, but if you fancy trying it Asda are selling Stella Cidre [sic] at £1 a 568ml bottle, 4.5% ABV

I have bought a bottle so I can make Saint Dehlias Bangers braised in cider (http://www.deliaonline.com/recipes/type-of-dish/autumn/sausages-braised-in-cider-with-sauteed-apples.html) later this week

With the poncey spelling of cidre I guess it will be fine for cooking:D

The small print suggests you can do it in the reverse direction too.

Tickets are sold as 25p single tickets. If the 25p fare is sold out on a train, our normal range of fares will be shown. It is possible to purchase a return journey combining a 25p ticket in one direction, and a normal ticket in the other.

If you drink in Fullers pubs it's worth asking if they are participating in the Fullers loyalty card scheme. I picked one up recently and it was personalised to the pub (i.e. you probably couldn't get it stamped at another Fullers pub). However the pub name was written on not printed so they must be designed for use across the Fullers estate. They don't seem to be advertising this much and if the free drink comes out of the publican's pocket rather than the brewery's there may be no reason for them to offer the card to anyone other than their regulars.

The deal is buy 8 get one free and the offer goes up to 31st August 2012. The T's & C's which can be found here (http://www.fullers.co.uk/rte.asp?id=439)state that you can't get more than two stamps per day

Punch's Taylor Walker branded pubs have a "Cider and Cask Ale Festival" going on. It's a bit half hearted, the outlet I was in the other day only had three hand pumps: London Pride was permanent, leaving two for the 'festival'. There wasn't any Pride anyway so that clip was reversed and one of the others - Wychwood Jester Jack - ran out pretty soon.

Anyway the offer is that you get a buy-five-get-on- free card to collect stamps on. The downside is it's just one stamp per card per day, and that's not per pub per day. I suppose if one of these pubs is your local you could keep five or six cards on the go and get a free night at the end of the week.

I've got a voucher from London Drinker for a free pint of Chevallier Outlier Blonde Lager which I gather from Google is something to do with Aspalls Cider.

It's wasted on me as there is no way I'm going to start chasing round the pubs of this overpriced chain. However, I do have one earmarked and hope to try their house beer followed by the freebie (it would be rude just to have the freebie and then leave!).

It runs out at the end of September. You have to enter a name and an email address on the voucher, but I can't see anything stopping you setting up a load of email addresses and false names, picking up a huge pile of London Drinkers and embarking on a massive free Nicholson's crawl. Obviously I wouldn't condone this sort of thing as I assume it's a keg lager and I had my fill of that rubbish when I used to play darts!!

I thought in answering Dave's query it was clear where I was coming from. Obviously not. What I was trying to put across was the point about not boycotting Punch pubs because on a miniscule scale it affects the licensee, also. A small difference maybe, but it keeps my conscience clear.

For a keg lager it was reasonably OK, although I dread to think what the price would have been given that the Truman's US pale was £3.98.

Thanks for the tip-off, tm. I did think about this one, but it was short-notice and I had to decide if I really did want to spend several hours on one of Virgin's awful Pendolini; I decided probably not.

I have, though, got a couple more to bring to the attention of the group (as long as they are London, or South-East, based).

Greater Anglia have another £5 seat sale (http://www.abelliogreateranglia.co.uk/seatsale), tickets on sale till 17th May. Travel on weekdays only unfortunately and also restricted to the Inter-City route (so, pretty much London/Ipswich/Norwich), but a bit of a bargain, and there's plenty to drink in Norwich.
Southeastern have £10 day returns (http://www.southeasternrailway.co.uk/special-offers/kent-destinations/) to a (very limited) number of destinations: Hastings, Broadstairs, Rochester, Whitstable, Ramsgate. No break of journey is permitted, although you could extend your trip to somewhere else with a cheap day return add-on. Good news is that these tickets are even available on the high-speed.

Is that a snr railcard? We ain't all there yet, even it it feels like it most mornings...
Otherwise, what railcard cover Lon-Manc..?

Yes it's a senile rail card. It certainly covers the £7.50 Virgin Wolverhampton advance singles (£4.95) and the Chiltern Birmingham advance singles (£3.95). I've also got £5.95 single tickets to Derby and back. The £5 Southern singles are discounted to £3.30 but not the £15 go anywhere ones. The £10 SE Trains return only seems to be bookable a week in advance and is not discounted. Some train companies (Virgin and East Midland) charge £1 for posting the tickets. I don't know if booking them from Southern would prevent that.

I've also got a Coffin Dodger's Freedom Pass so my recent Day Return from the boundary of Zone 6 to Chelmsford was around a fiver.

Deals on London-Edinburgh route, and between, so Yorkshire & NorthEast, Leeds, Wakey, York, Toon, Edinburgh from (or presumably to) London, variously £10, £15, £20 e/w. I would like to do Newcastle on a non match day, but forgot, so am booked to York (£20rtn) and aim to aim for Harrogate from there.

I think I'll have to pass on this one as there are no Punch houses round my way nor do I have a mobile phone to redeem the offer. As for tablets, would the ones to reduce my blood pressure after reading Morning Advertiser articles about Punch Taverns full of marketing quotes be any good??

The requirement for a mobile phone seems a bit unreasonable, but I guess that way they can actually monitor the promotion properly.

As you don't get to see the list of pubs offering a pint until you sign up (it is only 800 or so of the Punch estate) I've made a map of them here http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pub-features/2015/cask-ale-week-free-pint/

I got the Email about the free pint the other day,but i dont think my £9.99 mobile from Argos will let me use whatever they want me to do to get a free pint,
Shame The Old Cross is just over a 5 minute walk from my house,no free pint for me:moremad:

Wouldn't it be better to have a Rail Travel Offers thread for all rail offers?
This thread seemed to have been started for beer vouchers and offers.
I've got a bonus day in Wolverhampton this month at four quid each way but the advance tickets with a Senile rail card are only £5.30 each way.

I think there's another thread re bargain deals (of any kind) but I found this one first, so just used this. A 'check out the value' thread could combine all such stuff, if you want to do the honours...
