The Saracens Head, Doncaster is listed as 82 Cleveland Street. This address is also claimed by Atteys Solicitors, who are situated next door to the Redeemed Christian Church of God. The latter building looks very like a closed down pub to me - see photo recently posted. I have therefore requested the pub marked as closed.

After a Google search, I have not been able to find any provenance for the street number 82. If you can justify it, by all means retain it (it's the right block, after all: and it's a closed pub, so what does it matter?) but it looks to me like Atteys have first dibs on the number. ;)

Cheers

Hi sheffield hatter,

Looking at it I couldn't work out the number, so just dropped the number from the Saracens Head (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/33912/), seems wisest with it being closed as well.

Thanks for that

I've just been (virtually) in Doncaster again and it appears I was wrong about the above. The building I photographed was 72 Cleveland Street, which is another closed pub: The Emporium (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/33805/). I know it's a pain, but could you please move my photo from The Saracens Head (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/33912/) to The Emporium? And for completeness, restore the number 82 to the former? Or just delete the Saracens after moving the photo, because it now seems likely it was demolished to make way for the office block now used by Atteys. (It's listed on the Lost Pubs In Doncaster (http://www.closedpubs.co.uk/yorkshire/doncaster.html) section of the closedpubs website, but no details.)

Apologies for the inconvenience. I was fairly new to this when I wrote the above, and my research nowadays is usually much more thorough.

Cheers

Hi Conrad and sheffield hatter,

Just thought i would let you know i went in the Saracens Head and the Emporium on 29 December 1997 and i have got photos of both of these pubs.

The Emporium was a John Smiths tied house and it was selling real ale on my visit, the Saracens Head was a bit more interesting it was a plain looking pub and next to a fish and chip shop called nelsons dock, but it was more interesting inside on the beer front as i tried a beer in here that i have only seen once on all my pub crawls.
There were two real ales on the bar i had a drink of Buchanan's best bitter and the other beer was Buchanan's original these beers were brewed at the Federation brewery in Dunston Tyne & Wear.
I am not able to add these photos to the site yet as i hav'nt put them on a disc.

Cheers Alan
