Another very good reason to visit Edinburgh in 2011.Is anyone aware of plans by BrewDog to do anything like this south of the border?

That is a deal! & Still available for a midweek stopover. I recall a member of a group of tickers in the Market Porter once declared his favourite ale city to be Edinburgh.

If anyone does make it up to Edinburgh next year please report back on the effects of the Great Edinburgh Tram Fiasco. The last couple of times I've been up there Princes Street and the area around Waverley and Leith Walk have been subject to major roadworks and closures. I understand the City Centre work may now have been completed but there could be work going on at the Haymarket end. This is a project that sought to run a tram from Edinburgh Airport through the City Centre right up to Leith. Now running years behind schedule and having run out of cash they are having re reappraise.

This is likely to have an impact on the ability to easily get to surrounding areas although there are certainly enough good pubs in the City Centre and the Old Town to make a trip worthwhile.

I've booked for Edinburgh 03-04Feb.
There look to be some good deals available on hotels just now (per a quick look at laterooms.com), but does anyone have any specific recommendation for accommodation - hotel/b&b/pub?

edinburgh hotels from todays paper :

Radisson Blu & Ramada Mount Royal... made oi laaarf.

Some nice hotels at decent prices, but I thought £49 for twin with breakfast at a central Holiday Inn would leave even more aside for beer. Booked!

I'm sorry, but Travelodge (with a breakfast in the local 'spoons) is the only way I can make it work - class, or wot!

I saw mention of continental buffet breakfast, but also of hot & cold, so don't know whether a spoons top-up will be needed as protection against drinking day2.

That'll do, I quite like the buffet option as long as the food isn't left under the lights too long.
Actually didn't think of Travelodge, they don't tend to do twins, but I see I could've got a family room (double plus pull-out option) for £19. D'oh!

The BrewDog pub won't be open when I get there early Feb, but my first pass at a mission list looks somewhat daunting (for a 27hr visit). I'll revisit the list to prioritise, but are there any that you knowledgeable lot would leave out, or any that should be added? Thanks.

Bennet's, Blue Blazer, Bow Bar, Cafe Royal, Caledonian Sample Room, Centraal, Clarks Bar, Cloisters, Dagda, Greenmantle, Guildford Arms, Halfway House, Kay's Bar, Kenilworth, Leslies, Oxford Bar, Sandy Bells, Standing Order, Thomson's, White Hart Inn, Sheeps Heid (Duddingston), Volunteers (Musselburgh), Bailie Bar (Stockbridge)

A couple of recommendations close to your digs cask & barrel http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/48849/ , the barony http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/48789/ both broughton street. The guildford arms http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubreviews/48954/ and the halfway house http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/48958/ are both handy for Waverley station. If your travelling about Edinburgh by bus the £3 lrt day ticket is excellent value http://lothianbuses.com/index.php

I have the list down to 18.5 but I didn't notice any mention of a dartboard anywhere.
Do they have any up there?

Well, I'm from Manchester & Jonesey is from the Lakes, & we were both pretty impressed with the rain that Edinburgh managed to throw at us, especially during the entire Thursday beer section of the trip (14:30-closing).

Of those omitted from whittled target list, most regrettable was Kay's Bar, but time (before Fri train back) simply ran out after bussing over to Musselburgh to start day2 at Volunteers (/Staggs). Somehow I've managed to record at least the beers everywhere but, for now, the pubs visited were...

Day1. Guildford Arms, Cafe Royal, Bennet's Bar, Cloisters, Blue Blazer, Thomson's, Sandy Bell, Bow Bar, Oxford Bar.
Day2. Volunteers, Leslie's, Dagda, Abbotsford, Halfway House.

Plenty of fine looking pubs and not a bad pint amongst 'em.
Sorry for being a terrible PG representative - I wore the t-shirt but was an under-layer in the weather, and I forgot the business cards completely, just as I did on last tour of Snorbans. Sorry.

For those of you who simply can't abide the thought of another St Patrick's Day, have nothing better to do or perhaps endured an unfortunate incident with a leprechaun they'd rather forget, let BrewDog Aberdeen and Edinburgh (now unofficially open) be your clover-free haven. We don't need to run gimmicky promotions off the back of religious holidays to encourage our patrons to enjoy quality craft beer which means our bars are a St Patrick's Day free-zone. Come and say hi!

Is it just me that finds that slightly ironic as the only beer company that comes close to competing with BrewDog on marketing is Guinness
