I've had the odd beer or two in Liverpool this week ;), but without doubt the best, and my BotW is the Brimstage Oyster Catcher Stout, enjoyed at the Vernon Arms on a couple of occasions

6 decent pints last night ,
Barnsley Beer Co - Ronnies Owd Cock (cue lots of childish jokes aimed at barmaid)
Barnsley Beer Co - Bee By Gum
White Rose - Scary Blonde
White Rose - Gecko in the Gateau
Pictish - Centenial
Red Squirel - Conservation

BOTW White Rose - Scary Blonde

I should put Wye Valley Butty Bach as I had pints of it on Saturday, but feel I must put the Brentwood Chockwork Orange I had at the Kelham Island Tavern, Sheffield on Friday as my BOTW. Super flavour.

Ive not had much beer this week after last weeks Marathon session. Only a few 5 Pints of Sharps Doom Bar 5 Pints of St Austell Tribute 6 Pints of Abbot Special Reserve 3 Pints of Guinness 4 Bottles of Newcastle Brown.

Doom Bar & Tribute were both excellent but I will go for the Abbot Reserve as Beer of the week as I don't see it around that often.

Fairly quiet week for me. Enjoyed Leeds 'Gathering Storm' and Elland 'Eden' but the clear winner and my BOTW was BrewDog 'Trashy Blonde'

Challenging beer of the week goes to BrewDog Hardcore IPA 9%ABV!. Some complex flavours in there, but overall just too unbalanced and overly alcoholic for my palate.

Had a very interesting beer in The Magpie and Crown ,Brentford at the start of a weekend boat trip through the canals of central London. It was called Collaboration Porter and came from The London Brewers Alliance,a loose arrangement between the brewers from all 15 breweries in London. The idea was to revive the London Porter style using old recipies and this 5.2% beer was easily quaffable, well balanced and a very worthy BOTW.
I am sure London CAMRA members will be more aware of the London Brewers Alliance than I was ,but I hope this ale wont turn out to be a one off special,as I would gladly sink a few more pints in the future.

A couple of interesting pints this week including the latest cask version of Youngs Ram Rod - one of their better ales. Top of the pile this week though, and I don't usually go for the darker ones, is the Thwaites Nutty Black at the Wat Tyler in Dartford.

A very quiet week for me after the excesses of last week. My BOTW goes to Enville Nailmaker Mild - a lovely, chocolate flavoured mild and a bargain at £2.50 at Far From the Madding Crowd in Oxford.

In all the time I have been participating in this thread, I feel I have shown myself to be someone who enjoys their cask ales very much – so why is it that last week I failed to have one single pint of real ale? I don’t know how I allowed this to happen and it will certainly not happen again! Suffice to say, it was Guinness, Corona, Smirnoff Ice’s, double vodka’s, tequila’s and whatever else…. But no proper beer!

Now, this makes for incredibly sad reading

Guinness x 9

BOTW: Duh!

I found the Collaboration Porter in the Doric Arch at Euston yesterday and ordered a pint. Unfortunately it was the end of the barrel and off. Hoping to find it somewhere else soon. Hadn't heard of the London Brewers Alliance before.

A restrained start to our week in Yorkshire: the choice is between Timothy Taylor Landlord and Black Sheep Riggwelter at the CB Inn in Arkengarthdale. The balance of probability goes to Riggwelter, as the Landlord was too damn cold.Too cold is was than brown and dull in my book.
