Best just read it and make your mind up...regardless of the rights or wrongs, this isn't a fight worth having, surely?

It's easy to tell the difference between Sam Smiths & Cropton.

One brews a variety of good, tasty real ales. The other one brews Old Brewery Bitter and that's it.

I've actually done a brewery tour of both of these, Cropton won there as well.

It's pathetic, but reading alleged doings by the SS management on other sites I've concluded that they are tight paranoid morons. I once started a thread asking whether the regulars on here would rather have a Spoons or Sam's pub open up as their local and I chose Sam's - I've changed my mind after all I've read over the last few months.

Sam's lost their way long ago. When I was a student in the late 70s they were just arriving on the scene in London, and finding OBB in a pub was a find indeed in a city awash with keg WatBreads and if you were lucky Charrington's IPA. Then they got a couple of pubs, put only keg stuff in them and it was downhill all the way.

I see someone on the other site is systematically going through all Sam's pubs telling the sordid tale, good on them - Just don't do it on here!

I think old Humph might really have done it this time. The White Rose is such a potent symbol of the county's identity and regional pride. People are spitting feathers, as the facebook page shows: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Boycott-Sam-Smiths-Brewery-for-its-ridiculous-Court-Case/130834506968949

They were already on my fail list for not returning Al 10000's hand written list (http://forums.pubsgalore.co.uk/showthread.php?3935-Sam-Smiths-in-Website-Shock&p=20419#post20419).

Agreed, its very poor form from the brewery and it will stop me drinking there (I only ever really went to the London ones - the central Leeds SS pub is rubbish)

Hello by the way to anyone who might remember me from the other site - I was recommended here by Gann.

None around here so I do not drink Sam Smith's anyway, but it really is something one would hope to see on front page of Daily Mail [sorry about using that name]

Shame on SS

Hi Chris, I certainly remember you from the dark side. Nice to have another West Yorkshire based member on the site. I seem to recall you're the Harlequins RL fan. Still, we all have our crosses to bear....:D

The White Rose of York is a well known and loved symbol. Just how one brewery can lay sole claim to the device is beyond belief. I take it Sam Smiths have registered it at the Royal College of Heralds.

You might just get away with Quins and Brentford, but I'd whisper it soft about Surrey CCC. :)

Fair play to Cropton for not letting the Mitchell & Butler deal slip through their fingers, but part of me feels that psychologically they've 'chucked in the towel' a little bit.

A touch RL season coming up for all our teams in the bottom six. Those of us with stadium plans should be fine..I hope. I'm one of two Salford fans living in Leeds!

Sam Smiths a beer giant?

Has the YP got them confused with the one at the other end of town?

Looks like that old curmudgeon Mr Humphrey is at it again. Having done a job on Cropton, he's now picked on Wakefield's latest micro the Bosun's Brewing Co, based in Horbury. Sam Smiths have forced BBC to remove the white rose from the pump clips of their latest beer Yorkshire Pals, celebrating the old regiments of the first world war, where pals from the same town joined up together. It's all been said before, with regard to Cropton, but his 'ownership' of Yorkshire's symbol defies belief.

Been a while since we used this one, in spite of the recent pension story. This one looks like a classic Mr Humphrey.

Actually I agree with this re baseball caps and vests. Jogging bottoms less so but definitely ban them if they are the genuine designer brand. I couldn't care less about hi viz work clothes.
