An early vote for Robinson's seasonal Battering Ram (4.0%).

A proper autumnal ale, dark and malty, and doing great business as the guest ale in the village club at a bargain £2.25.

It is also made from Bullion hops, which is a new variety to me.

I think Bullion is quite old(introduced in the 1920s-I remember people growing it in the 70s or 80s, and I don't seem to think my neighbour grows them now.

Pretty easy choice this week, as I don't expect to come across anything much this weekend. Elgood's Greyhound, a couple of pints from a fresh barrel, that's why I drink real ale.:drinkup::drinkup:

After a disapointing crawl around Madley (south telford) not much to report , only one decent beer (Beartown Peach Melba) untill return to Oakengates ,
Titanic Green Hop
Lymestone Stone Brood (honey and chocolate beer) better than it sounds , quite nice in fact
and this weeks winner Salamander Ironman

I'm stuck in exile at the moment in Jersey, so not exactly a wide choice, but I think my beer of the week goes to the Jersey Liberation Rouge, a 4.5 % red ale (surprisingly), which has a really nice full fruity taste. Being served straight from the barrel helps I'm sure.

It usually does..........
Despite my somewhat pessimistic view of this weekend, another decent beer turned up last night, St Austell's Proper Job. Mind you it's still the Greyhound for me, and everyone else goin on the rate it's disappearing...:drinkup::drinkup:

The only beer consumed this week:o was Thwaites Wainwright in The Chequers,Woolmer Green near the office so by default my BOTW.

Next week a spot of boating and boozing down the River Lee then up the tidal Thames from Limehouse to Brentford, after which ,in a state of nervous exhaustion many pints will be quaffed which will surely throw up a better BOTW ?

Roosters Mature Whiskey Stout 5.7% at the Maltings in York was my BOTW. So good had another the next day before it ran out.

Will have to keep good records of what I enjoy in Nottingham this week to remember the good ones.

A damn fine ale drinking week, so honourable mentions for Butts Barbus Barbus (Shoulder of Mutton, Wantage), Fat Cat Cougar (Maltings, York), Rudgate Ruby Mild (Blue Bell, York) and Haviestoun October Hopfest(Crathorne Arms, Teesside) but BOTW is Salamander Werewolf Porter. as served in the Brigantes in York.

I wanted the Fat Cat Cougar in Maltings, but it hadn't come on the days we were there. Glad it was worthy of a mention.

No pub this week, but for consolation I broached the first of many Gadds Faithful Dogbolter Porter, a lovely dark malty hoppy delight-what Autumn is designed for.

A couple of weaker beers stood out this week, one was the Nethergate IPA but my BotW goes to Thornbridge Wild Swan.

An honourary mention for Nook Brewhouse Blond tried at The Baum.

But the BOTW is going to be Millstone Tiger Rut, 3 pints of which were tried in the Regal Moon.

I kept trying to order something else but it was so good my mouth kept saying Tiger Rut please. :p

It's been a pretty miserable week for me which has resulted in a newly estranged wife. Lodden Bamboozle was at least a small crumb of comfort.

A very quiet time for me, just two pints all week! A very average pint of Golden Pippin only leaves Purity 'Pure Ubu' as my BOTW.

Really sorry to hear that Roger. I'm sure many of us can imagine the emotional rollercoaster you're on right now.

I was convinced for ages that Pure Ubu must be named in honour of the wonderful band Pere Ubu, but it turns out it is named after Ubu the brewery dog. Ah well.

Not a great deal for me to choose from either.

It's come down to a straight shoot out between King WGV Hops and Dark Star American Pale Ale and despite being impressed by the former, I can't help give BOTW to the APA (and not for the first time I suspect).

Thanks A&H. It is hopefully just a temporary arrangement although I don't know what her understanding of the word temporary is. She's cleared me out of tea bags and toilet rolls but did pop in on Sunday and make me breakfast so all is not lost. She works away from home a lot these days so being stuck on my own isn't such a new experience and it will give me a chance to sharpen up some domestic skills without inteference! At least I will have the remote all to myself from now on.

Cheated a bit this week as I was at a Meet the Brewer event in the Bird in Hand, Knowl Hill on Friday, where I drank the full cask range of Brew Dog. I liked them all, 5am Saint was the best. :nishelypished::nishelypished:

After some mountain biking on the South Downs, we returned to the Bridge Inn (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/39342/) to find a pump offering King's Summer Ale, with an attached note reading: "last of the Summer Ale, fill your boots!". If I hadn't been driving, I would have done. Lovely stuff - perfect for a late(!) summer's day - pale, lightly-hopped and refreshing. Maybe they'd been keeping it specially?

Better even than Dark Star American Pale Ale in the Harp, I'd say (although that one was a little late in the day).

To be honest so did I. The band's influence is definitely in there somewhere. I wouldn't be surprised if the brewery dog story is to head off any possible threat of litigation.

I once saw Pere Ubu at the Festival Hall. They performed a live soundtrack to the old 50's Sci-Fi film "It Came From Outer Space" which was simultaneously screened on a backdrop behind the band...in 3D. One of the more bizarre gigs I have been to. Oh, and support came from the Electric Prunes.

To be honest, I'd have been more surprised if you hadn't seen them. :D

P.S. Only once?

P.S. Only once?

Yes. Beer and 3D glasses don't mix.

A relatively quiet drinking-week for HTM69, with only the 12 pints consumed over the weekend and Mon-Fri being totally alcohol-free.

Adnams Bitter x 5
Loddon Bamboozie x 1
St Austell’s Tribute x 1
Sharps Doom Bar x 5

BOTW: Sigh… Sharps Doom Bar
