Lets be honest, cycling is not the laid back affair it once was. Thirteen keen peddlers must work up a bit of a sweat and one can imagine what the B.O must be like. You do not turn 13 possible sales away without good reason. I back the Management.

Have a look at the language - clearly a food led venue:

'restaurant manager'
'dine and drink' (priority on dining rather than drinking)

Nice day, please sit outside, I think they did the right thing.

I don’t think that the manager should have had to ask them to sit outside, at least one of the group should have had the wherewithal to realise others were being put out by their whiff.

The Hash House Harriers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hash_House_Harriers) often use my local as a meeting point before and after their run over Hampstead Heath and they always stand outside or use the toilet facilities to freshen up – It’s called manners.

Read the Reviews on this site for more info according too themselves it was a group (all aged 40+) were out on a leisurely social bike ride, . :whistle:

If you go past the first few there are some positive reviews.

The bit I found more interesting though is that of all those reviews only 2 of the reviewers had reviewed other pubs (I don't trust 1 droppers). Of those 1 was positive, 1 negative. The negative relates to kids not being allowed without food (despite a later review moaning about kids running riot). Standard disclaimer - this was worked out with a quick scan, so I may well have got the wrong end of the stick.

If the original news report is factually correct (fat chance) then I agree with the management. Similarly to Stongers I have cycled to pubs and I sit outside if possible rather than stinking the other customers out.

Possibly a naive chioice of pub. Most regular cyclist and walkers, especially in the more popular areas like the national parks know which pubs don't mind sweaty cyclists and soaking wet walkers covered in mud and which pubs to avoid due to gastrification.

Quite possibly, Nick, naive and careless. I don't really know this pub, merely where it is and it's reputation in the area. It does occur to me however, that a dozen or more 40yo hyped up blokes probably caused more offence than just a smell. My own experience suggests that groups of that size, age, gender and ilk are rarely good company, excepting in their own estimation.
The description of themselves as out for a leisurely cycle ride is risible and I'm trying very hard to be polite here.:mad::drinkup::drinkup:
