BOTW goes to Backyard Gonguzzler. A porter with hints of chocolate, vanilla and blackberry and decent poke at 5.4% served in great nick in The Plough (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/64464/).Just what was needed on a very cold day.

Next week all quiet until the annual Hertford pub crawl.

More restraint...

J W Lees Stout*
Northern Monk Northern Star*
Fallen Acorn Hello Steven This Is Clem Fandango Can You Hear Me*
Hop Back Citra*
Milton Nero*
New Bristol Maple Syrup And Pecan Stout*

All beers were excellent but the New Bristol beer was extra special, a 7.5% sipping beer on keg.

Reasonable week:

Oakham Bishops Farewell*
Byatts Smoke on the Porter*
Byatts Marvellous English IPA
Hop Back Summer Lightening*
Ashover Blackberry Stout*
Titanic Plum Porter Grand Reserve*

All good and thoroughly enjoyed both dark beers.

No doubt about BOTW Titanic Plum Porter Grand Reserve. I’ve had the odd bottle of this but, as ever, the cask version was infinitely superior. I like Plum Porter but the addition of port, apparently, and longer maturation takes this to a different level. Definite contender for BOTY. Nectar.
