Tetley’s Mild. What more wonderful beer is there than that? Admittedly, this one is a little before my time But It’s still Tetley’s. What’s even better is that this particular example was brewed on my birthday.
If this is looking a bit feeble for a pre-WW I Mild, don’t worry. This was Tetley’s entry level Mild. There’s a whole raft of stronger siblings waiting at the edge of the lake.
Uncomplicated is the word I most use to describe old recipes like this. OK, there were three different types of base malt. I would tell you where the barley came from. Except the descriptions are total rubbish. No idea. My guess would be at least one type was foreign.
The hops aren’t much more interesting. A 50-50 split between Worcester and Kent. Nothing more to say.
