Also spending a night at a mates house in Wakefield on the way to Newcastle for the match. I haven't been to Wakey for 10 years. There are loads of pubs but they don't look that good to be honest.
Need to trim them down so any advice is welcome!!

Also the best of Newcastle ?

Of course there are some good pubs. FFS! Assuming you're staying in / heading for the city centre. Try the following:

Harry's Bar.
Old Printworks.
Henry Boons.
Black Rock.
Polka Hop.
Luis Bar @ Fernandes.

Luis Bar is my current favourite. It used to be Harry's but it's gone slightly off the boil, at the moment. The Hop and the Red Shed might also be worth a punt, although I haven't been in either for a while.

Alright calm down! FFS! I meant they seem to be aimed at a younger crowd!!!

My mate lives in Alverthorpe but we will have a few round the station probably. I went in Henry Boons and the Polka (Bull & Fairhouse at the time) when I last visited.
Printworks and Harry's look handy, close together by the train station. Black Rock will also make the shortlist!

Hi Del. In Newcastle I'd recommend the Bridge Hotel and Crown Posada, both stunning pubs with a great range of ales. I also like the Newcastle Tap, straight across from the station, it's very good too. Microbus and Wobbly Duck are great micropubs to try.

So many brilliant pubs in Newcastle Del, have a great time

Cheers Ray. The only problem will be not having enough time in Newcastle - so many pubs! I haven't been there since a stag weekend over 20 years ago and that is a blur even now!
I'll do the Tap as it's near the station - other than that I'll go with the flow! I'll have about 4 hours pre match and an hour or so after the game.
