I have got two full days in Glasgow in early March, completely virgin territory for me,and would be grateful for some guidance.

My priority is to find pubs with interesting and well kept real ale ,rather than just visiting pubs with heritage features but which otherwise would disappoint on the ale front.A combination of great beer and heritage would of course be a winner.

Initial research has produced this list.

Bon Accord
Drum & Monkey
Horse Shoe
Lauriston Bar
Pot Still
State Bar
Three Judges,Partick

I'm not interested in long hikes out to far flung suburbs or surrounding towns as time is limited.Any "must visit" pubs fitting my criteria which I have missed ?

Many thanks in anticipation,

BF

I'd recommend all of the pubs on your list. A particular favourite of ours was Bon Accord, as well as very good beer the food was also excellent.

I'd add the Scotia to your list, a proper old school Glaswegian pub, very friendly and respectable. Also pop into the Counting House Spoons, for the opulent interior. They also had a good ale choice.

Enjoy your trip BF

Was up there for the first time a couple of weeks ago!

From your list:

Must visit:
Bon Accord
Lauriston Bar
State Bar

Really should do
Pot Still

If you like
Drum & Monkey (A nicholsons with only a couple on, nice interior though)

Didn't go here!
Horse Shoe

Whilst I know you aren't a Spooner, the Counting House is worth it for the interior.

If you're feeling crafty, then the Inn Deep, Shilling and Drygate are decent shouts.

Thanks chaps that's really useful.I'm not anti -'spoons so the Counting House may well get a visit and I've still got a lot of vouchers to get rid of.:)
