Hi Everyone

Planning a visit to York next week, and would welcome any suggestions of a nearby town/village to visit with good pubs and beer, maybe a bus ride out of York?

Any suggestions would be very welcome!

Cheers

Pocklington (https://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/areas/pocklington/east-riding-of-yorkshire/) might be a possibility. It's a bus ride away.

You've done Harrogate & Knaresborough but there's Malton (https://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/areas/malton-central/north-yorkshire/)not great but easy to get to by train. Least attractive are probably Tadcaster, Thirsk, Easingwold and Northallerton. You could try a tour of some of the suburbs, Acomb (https://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/areas/acomb/north-yorkshire/) perhaps? Bit of an unknown territory, most pubs only have a review from Alan Winfield.

There's a lot of very nice village pubs around, but usually only one per village. Of the few multiple places, Bishopsthorpe (https://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/areas/bishopthorpe/north-yorkshire/) is not bad, the Upper (https://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/areas/upper-poppleton/north-yorkshire/)and Nether (https://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/areas/nether-poppleton/north-yorkshire/) Poppleton pubs are pretty good but a little way between (and ignoring the Beefeater), while Fulford (https://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/areas/fulford/north-yorkshire/) has good opportunities for a circular crawl using the Millennium bridge.

Many thanks to you both, some good ideas there. York never disappoints anyway, really looking forward to visiting some old favourites too...
