I've been revamping the micropubs listing page (https://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pub-features/micropubs/) to include some more useful information (area as well as town). Also formatting changes to try to make the same page run on mobile and desktop.

If you are logged in when you visit the page you will also see a column of ticks at the end of each row. Some of them will be green, if you have reviewed it in the past I have logged that as a visit. If you want to mark off ones you have visited you can click on the grey tick icons and they should turn green.

Also as I'm currently very much map focussed there is now a map of micropubs (https://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pub-features/micropubs/map.php) which I think is probably more useful. Ones you have visited will show as green markers.

If you click on the markers you'll see a tick in the popup over the marker and in the box that appears at the top of the map, if you click on either of those ticks it should also toggle between visited and not visited.

All still a bit of a work in progress but I am very much trying to work out how to make better use of mapping.

Yep, really good Dave.

Had to knock a couple of ticks off mine as they were closed when visited and I only commented on the fact. :(

Just the 49 for me and it would have been a couple more if some places had kept to their published opening hours. :(

24 for me and would have been 26 for the same reasons as above.

Would be a giddy 2 for me if Real Ale (https://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/85778/) actually sold 'real ale'.

Another useful feature - thanks! One minor suggestion: greater colour differentiation between 'visited' and 'two or more' on the map would be helpful.

That is a very good point. I'd like to make much more use of maps and I think I'm going to have to come up with far better ways of differentiating markers, as in shapes/designs rather than just colours. I'll see what I can do.

Here's a toughie: can you make a different shape for the marker if the pub's location is "best guess"? This would a) prompt some checking before setting out, and b) avoid frustration when arriving at location and finding no pub. Just a thought.

There is a "splinter" off of the micro tickers and I for one agree with it- the stillage versus handpump micro. Maybe an "S" or "H" in the site to distinguish ? I have had a lot of moderate stillage beer in micros...........

Stillage every time for me, especially for low turnover beers.

It's G (for "gravity") in the Good Beer Guide.

Not saying that you haven't, but a lot of people drink with their eyes and if their beer doesn't have a frothy head they reckon it's not right. One of my most memorable beers was from stillage here (https://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/6628/)- not a micropub, admittedly.

Late to the party. I couldn't see the visited column at first and then realised it was because I wasn't signed in to the main site on my mobile. A surprising 26 for me, better than expected. I'm surprised this hasn't reopened the 'what constitutes a micro pub' can of worms though.

The visited/non-visited is a great facility - I'm sure someone else will have asked, but is there any plan to do this on the main map?

Meant to say thanks to Dave for this new feature, it will be great to see which micros to target when I eventually get out and about again

There's always one troublemaker! If people think this would be useful I can look into it.

Definitely, but having to rewrite the main mapping. I need to get the new version to load only the area you are looking at rather than the whole country.

I recall asking you if this would be useful, I think at the York crawl, so it's only taken me 6 years to get around to doing.

I've been through them and based on what I view as a reliable sources for a MP correction member left as is, all that weren't I've added the location as to where they actually are. I've done all of A-R, continuing, and U-Z which were best guess I've corrected to where I believe is correct, usual sources to back up. I have had to correct some lesser known members points as they were incorrect and (PA) points from prior to K could still be wrong as it wasn't until I found one in a park etc that I should check their adjustments. I'll finish the rest today and tomorrow.

Oh and i think I'm on 29 which is more than I thought.

It will be interesting to see the final pub map. Of course, I hope that only truly worthy and interesting establishments will be on the list.

Someone has made a feature-length documentary about micropubs, which will be premiering in Canterbury this weekend before presumably becoming available to watch at the link below afterwards.

"Inspired by the original micropub craze in Kent, three entrepreneurial Londoners decide to open their very own micropub and revitalise their high streets through a love of craft beer, real conversation and community spirit."

That's odd - the site was definitely up when I posted, but seems to be unavailable now.

It's working again now, and I'm supposed to be going to the premier in Canterbury on Saturday (at the grand cost of £5).
