This new thread has no relevance at all at the moment but fingers crossed we will get some normality at some point this year!

I am going to set no targets at all this year - we'll just see what happens.

As ever good luck to all.....

I'm hoping to at least beat my 2020 score, a remarkable 104  , my lowest since joining Pubs Galore in 2010, all but 12 of them by 7 March. With the plans I had, I could have come close to my best of 441, and certainly would have maintained my five-year rolling average of 265.

Let's hope for a better year ahead.

No targets ,my guess whatever total will be second half weighted but i'm highly motivated to get well beyond the 60 total for 2020.

I've got quite a long list of historic London boozers to tick off,and it really is time to get boating through West Yorkshire again via the Soar and Trent so ale quality will be fantastic.Praying that several target pubs survive the lockdowns.

Like others, no targets - beyond the hope of actually getting to a pub, of course. And when they do finally emerge from lockdown, it is bound to be a total lottery as to what is actually open for a considerable time, or indeed whether many will ever reopen at all. I can't help but feel sad at the thought of the numerous pubs that I will never now have the chance to visit.

Hoping for at least 33 so I can join the heralded four-figure club; a club I probably should have joined a while ago, but visits have dropped off considerably in the last two years since I stopped being a single man.

Pubs won't reopen until the chavs fight for it. Freedoms don't get given back voluntarily.

You are reliant on the Carling drinkers for your real ale.

...since I stopped being a single man.

What a bummer, eh?

I should have joined the 1,000-club years ago, but for my dogged quest to review only purpose built pubs dating from at least before World War II, aside for those that crop up on PuG crawls. Just 17 to go, now that I've added my overlooked 'heritage' review for The Queens Head (https://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/23104/).

First month into the New Year, off to a fairly slow start with - er, no visits yet. Other than to pick up a takeaway from a former pub, currently marked as closed, but which may reopen as an Indian restaurant with a villagers' bar, which really doesn't merit a review yet. Confusing times.

Chef & Brewer > Spirit > Greene King.

I haven't seen a C & B logo since my photo of the former Portman Arms (https://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/54448/) - I remember when they were really quite common and not the sign of a great pub.

I did though know that C & B started out as Levy & Franks. (http://letslookagain.com/2015/12/levy-franks/)

A pub for every day of the year apparently, or so I was told on my one visit to the place in the Autumn of 1991. I recall this was in fact mentioned as a potential crawl destination but I think there may have been some objections due to it being inconvenient for those who don't live in the South-East (or Norwich).

Norwich (aka 'the City of Ale') offers a potential multi-day pub crawl if you are so minded, and must be in the top five UK cities for such purposes.

If you got the patience, it is connected to many northern and central cities (such as Liverpool, Widnes, Warrington, Manchester, Stockport, Sheffield, Chesterfield, Nottingham, Grantham and Peterborough) by direct East Midlands Trains.

Really enjoyed Scarborough and found another 2 pubs before leaving bringing total to 42.

Worcester have a great pub fest with a lot of their pubs taking part, and we had a good day there finding another 3 new ones,

Off to York for 4 nights where we found 5 we hadn't tried before. While there, we caught the coastliner to Leeds armed with a list of pubs we had enjoyed in the past, many with Pubs Galore, but found another 3 . Couldn't get into 2 other new ones we wanted to try due to late opening hours now, but will have another go next time in York September. It was great to see Mr & Mrs Realaleray at York Tap as we were getting ready to get the train home.

A pub beer fest in Alvechurch near Redditch today has brought our total to 54.

2019 saw 204 new pubs, 2020 saw 52, so pleased to find the current year getting a chance to hit treble figures.

August saw some churning around previously unvisited London pubs with mixed results on the real ale front, but pushing to year to date total to 49.

Yikes! I need to pull my finger out. Visited 12 new pubs in August, but that only got me to 27 for the year - the 27th was a cup of coffee at The Shrub Club (https://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/89194/) in New Mills, which is a drink so I'm counting it.

I've got a holiday coming up next week and should get a few done in hitherto unexplored parts of Scotland (including Langholm's four pubs (https://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/towns/langholm/dumfries-galloway/), and maybe some in Peebles (https://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/areas/peebles-central/borders/) and/or Innerleithen (https://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/towns/innerleithen/borders/)), but Moby is coming up to Sheffield and if he doesn't get at least 20 new pubs I'll eat my hat.

Luckily I have plans to visit a few new pubs in London towards the end of the month, plus some ideas for trips to Sandal, Darton and possibly Featherstone here in Yorkshire's West Riding, and an even crazier plan to visit as many as 13 Bass pubs in Stoke on Trent, which fell victim to the first lockdown. If all else fails, there must be some low-hanging fruit here in Sheffield...

Now if we can just get the beer supply sorted out...

It seems there is some trepidation amongst the brewers about this, one of my regular pubs that has two or three beer festivals a year in normal times had one penciled in for next month but has now postponed until next easter, due to lack of varied product available, citing worries about more restrictions possibly due as we head into winter, so restricting the amount and variety of products brewed.

That's a quote from the lyrics of Rage Against The Machine's Killing in the Name (https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=fuck+you+i+won%27t+do+what+you+tell+me&&view=detail&mid=7F232407D57AA06B99837F232407D57AA06B9983&&FORM=VDRVRV). Great stuff!

Reminds me of a joke some wag tweeted a few years back which went along the lines of: "I'm looking after Zack De La Rocha's dog at the moment; the damn thing won't do what I tell it."

It's a bit different for dogs. For humans, the point is to give people information that will allow them to understand for themselves that the course of action being proposed is the right thing to do.

But you knew that anyway, didn't you. :)

Now up to 37 after a very enjoyable month of ‘normality’. Long may it continue!

Visited 12 new pubs in August, but that only got me to 27 for the year.

Managed to visit 25 new pubs in September, thereby almost doubling my tally for the year. And another seven today brings me to 59.

A visit to Hebden Bridge added 1 and a visit to Manchester yesterday added 3 more.

Now on a paltry 16, but visits to Liverpool & Southport should add a few more over the next fortnight.

August saw some churning around previously unvisited London pubs with mixed results on the real ale front, but pushing to year to date total to 49.

September was very productive, mainly filling gaps in London but a day trip to Bristol helped push the year to date total to 70.

Fit to boat again, and with the vast PuG Birmingham crawl hoving into view ,hopefully momentum will be retained in October. Will I hit the ton in 2021 ?

A tour of Bridgnorth, A stroll around Stirchley and a few odd ones has me on 41 now. A trip to Spurs and a week in Llangollen coming up should push me on nicely.

Had a decent month. Now up to 74.

A trip to Atherton on Friday yielded a surprising 10 new ones, even though I've visited before.

Bar wise this is certainly an up and coming town with 7 of the 10 being new openings, sadly only 1 had real ale.

Now on 40.

Almost as good as September, with a further 14 new pubs in the rest of October to add to the seven on the first day noted above. Now on 73, with plans for another London pub crawl on Wednesday to get November off to a good start.

Not something I could afford to do again any time soon, I decided to do the One Month, 100 New Pubs Challenge, the main criteria being that each place had to be a proper pub, so no micros or railway arch dens, likewise no Peroni in a Café Rouge. I made it with 75 minutes to spare, only to find that my list had already hit the 100 mark, so 101 new pubs in October brings me up to 182 new visits for the year.

159 after my 43 pub trip up to Berwick and Edinburgh.

200 for the year might be out of reach now (unless you count the 15 I'm going to do in Malta next week!).

Trip up to Black Country before Xmas but mainly doing a greatest hits tour with a couple of pals. Otherwise, it's what I can try and fit in before the strike of midnight in a month and half.

159 after my 43 pub trip up to Berwick and Edinburgh.

I've read quite a number of the reviews, in fact probably all of them in Berwick! Well done - boldly going where Al 10000 had not been. I was sad to see that the Barrels (https://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/30396/), formerly Berwick's liveliest pub and with usually very good beer and banter, was a bit of a let down. It seems the excellence of the Curfew (https://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/82378/) just along the street has been dragging their former customers away.

Boating activity will drop off in December while waiting for some internal woodworking in early January.Although there will be a lot of pub visits in December, most will be well worn destinations so the final total for 2021 won't move much.

After 25 in September and 21 in October, November turned out to be a bumper month with 31 new pubs for me. Total now standing at 104. Trips to Putney, Macclesfield, Nottingham and Stafford formed the bulk of the total. A few plans for December but mostly fairly short, local trips of about four or five pubs, so 125 is not an unreasonable expectation.

Is it that time already? After breakfast in Wetherspoons (Square Peg, Birmingham, HB HAppy as Larry) this morning I'm on 141

November was very slack for me regarding new pubs only managing 6 due to other commitments, currently sat on 85, may still try to make the century by the end of the year.

Plenty of revisits but a poor month for new ticks, up to 41.

Another slow month, but up to 49.

After completing the 100 New Pub Visits in One Month Challenge last month, this November has been slow, with just 84 new pub visits with 18 revisits, a total from the commencement of the new pub-going year of 26th May to the present, of 259 new visits to purpose built pubs, meaning I'm on target to complete the 365 New Pub Visits in 365 Days Challenge; halfway with just 106 more to go.

A visit to Pilot Inn (https://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/16714/) has taken me to 6 for the year. Omicron has kicked a planned trip to that Lunnon into the long grass for now.

165 - off to do a ramble of the Black Country's finest for three days, mainly revisits as my pals have never had the pleasure of places like the Bull and Bladder, Ma Pardoes etc. Hopefully bag enough to get me up to 175 but that'll probably be me for the year I suspect.

I have managed 119 new pubs this year so far, which I find amazing really. I have today gone to the new JDW Navigation Inn in Kings Norton opened today, which I last visited in 2011 but will not count as a new pub. I wanted to do a review of it as I fund it brilliant and we enjoyed all 6 guest ales on, but I cannot do a review on here as when I try to get to the pubs I get a message ----Your connection is not private ..Back to safety. I get that message with so many sites that I use it is a pain but I do not know how to deal with it. Hoping this gets through.

Happy Christmas everyone.

Are you using Chrome? You might be able to ignore the message by going to Details and Advanced (for websites you trust, like PuG, obviously!). Things to try are making sure your computer date/time is correct and checking your browser and antivirus are updated. You could also try clearing your cache (can advise if needed).

This weekend was wiped out by serious man flu (not the plague thankfully) so the current figure is 91, I may not manage to improve on that and make the century, depends on whether or not I can find the get up and go or not or indeed if Boris allows me.

Thank you. I am on Google chrome, and the date and time on my netbook are correct. I will have a look in the details next time it comes up. Wouldn't know where to start clearing cache, Norton look after antivirus. It doesn't ome up with everything, but confusing why it has started with things that I use regularly from my bookmarks.

Don't think I will get any more new pubs now, but managed 3 new ones in Liverpool on my Dale St crawl plus another Sommar in Birmingham so total now 123.

I reached 122 a couple of weeks ago, and won't be picking up any more new pub visits now. Quite happy with that total, given that travelling was either illegal or discouraged for about half of the year.

Do you know which version of Windows you are using? If it is Windows XP then I know what is going on and it is a tricky one to help with.

There might still be a way for you to get to PuG, try out this link  http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk:8080/

Finished on 51 which isn't great.

Still, some people don't even get to go to a pub every week never mind visit a new one.

Always look on the bright side...................................

Finished 2021 on 123 new pub visits,of which 105 came in the second half and nearer my usual run rate of 200 new visits per year.

Compared with the pitiful 2020 total of 60,I'm reasonably pleased with the 2021 total.

177 in the end after a fair number of ticks in the Black Country. Gotta be looking for 300+ next year...

Four pubs in Abingdon on New Years Eve got me to 155 for the year, which I'm pretty pleased with considering the delayed start to pub going and all the faff with outdoor-only drinking.

My new visits year didn't start until 26th May, with 285 new visits to date, though four were modern pubs, not purpose built ones dating back to at least the 19th century. Ultimately, with almost five months to go, I'm on track to complete the 365 New Pub Visits in 365 Days Challenge.

I am on a netbook with windows 7 that hasn't had updates so I just cope with what I can, Not to worry, I sometimes find ways and means round it.

Just used your link and have got the main page back, so bookmarked it....Cheers Dave.

Targets hit and missed in 2021:
1) Upload all 2021 reviews before the end of the year - hit on New Year's Eve.
2) Upload all 2021 photographs before the end of the year - completed on New Year's Day, so missed by 24 hours.
3) Reach 55% of all open Central London pubs reviewed - badly missed for the third year running (was 53.4% a year ago, but curiously down to 52.8% - something to do with the mix of reviewed closures and unreviewed new openings).
4) Reach 45% of all open Kent pubs reviewed - hit clear out of the ground (now 54.6%).
5) Reach 40% of all open West Midlands pubs reviewed - just missed last year, but hit this time despite extended travel restrictions (now 41.9%).

Final tally for the year was 183, which I suppose wasn't too bad all things considered but well down on 'normal', whatever that is.
