BOTW will be Lees Bitter.

It won't deserve to be, but we're going to a tied Lees house this evening and that's all they have.

After that it will be full time fizz. :(

After that it will be full time fizz. :(

D'oh! The heavy penalisation of RATs abroad. T'aint fair!

A slow start, but Bath Gem leads the way so far, closely followed by Old Thumper..........

Having spent a very wet week in North Wales, about the only ray of light was offered by seeing a Bragdy Mws Piws pump clip - so it's their Glaslyn Ale which is my BOTW.

PS - Also visited the home of the Purple Moose in a rather unprepossessing light industrial unit in an even more unprepossessing grey backstreet in Porthmadog to pick up a few souvenirs in bottled form to take home...

For beer quality it has to be either Mordue Workie Ticket or Wold Top Mars Magic in Jacksons Arms, Hartlepool. Not light lager like beers and well served. Hmmmm. Think BOTW will be Wold Top Mars Magic.

After a dissapointing crawl round St Georges , just Banks or Black Sheep on offer it was a relief to get down the hill into Oakengates , White Rose Gecko and the Bunnymen and Slaters Whynot the standouts .
BOTW White Rose , Gecko and the Bunnymen , nice pump clip as well

White Rose Gecko and the Bunnymen

My beer of the week is Thornbridge Wild Swan which is a light session beer with plenty of taste to it,i had a drink of this in the Royal Children in Nottingham city centre this saturday it went down a treat.

Not much beer this week, but some quality: Adnams The Bitter, Moorehouses Black Cat MILD, Wolf Golden Jackal and Milk Street Funky Monkey. My vote goes to the Funky Monkey despite the ridiculous name and that it was slightly hazy:this beer was packed full of both fruity and hop flavours(and was a proper beer colour!)

Best pint I've had this week was a pint in a none-too-special pub in Swindon, an unexpectedly perfect pint of Wadworth's 6X, so that's my BOTW this week.

09-08-2010, 09:03
Best Pint I had was from Nethergate Brewery it was Essex Best 6.2 . I was going too put it on yesterday but I fell asleep as soon as I got home from the Pub after drinking a few Pints.

Had some goodies this week, Pictish Warrior, Milton Sparta, Holt Humdinger and a couple of surprisingly good Weltons (I am a bit indfferent to their beers) but I'm going for another Westerham ale this week...Grasshopper .

09-08-2010, 09:49
No Westerham for me this week, unfortunately, but I did find a few other cracking beers on my travels.

Hop Back Entire Stout, Fullers London Porter, Hopdaemon Incubus and Leeds Midnight Bell are all worthy of a mention, but top of the pile this week is Red Squirrel West Coast Stout, which rounded off a good session in the Cask, Pimlico this Friday.

Another iffy beer week, with 12 pints, a couple of cans and the odd bottle consumed over a 3-day period. This week will be better!

Spitfire x 4
London Pride x 1
Weltons Export Stout x 1
Weltons Gladiator x 1
Sharps Doom Bar x 5
Tiger Beer [bottled] x 3
Fosters [can] - oh, sweet Jesus! x 1
Boddingtons [Can] erghhh x 1
Vodka & Coke [doubles & singles] x lord knows

BOTW: Sharps Doom Bar

Bath 'Gem'.
I'm trying the 'soul of brevity' bit.:drinkup:
It won't last..........

Late reply from me ,but my BOTW was Razzamatazz from the Elland Brewery ,a 4.7% pale ale, crisp and refreshing on a sweaty evening and supped in Whitefriars Olde Ale House in Coventry while on a tour around some city centre pubs. It's a fine boozer if you are ever in Cov.

16-08-2010, 15:14
Is it me or is there no BOTW thread for the week just gone??

For what it's worth, by BOTW is Dark Star APA, which just gets my vote ahead of the ever reliable Brew Dog Trashy Blonde.
