Is anyone else going to the trade day at Earl's Court?

Yep, I'll be there.

Well, I'd seen some tales of woe from respected correspondents, so what a pleasure it was to be given a magical ticket for the trade day. Still plenty of numbers there, but loads of space & no waiting or queuing anywhere.

I live in West Norwood, but woke up at Bounds Green. 'nuff said...

Agreed, we also had a very pleasant afternoon, noisy blokes in kilts not withstanding. Took a while to work out where everything is, now stands are arranged alphabetically by county rather than by region but it all adds to the fun.

Yes, I was initially frustrated by the layout but came round to thinking that it gave each stand good variety.
Price wise, I was surprised to see how much the cost differed between brews - can't remember which but, for instance, I saw two different 4.2% beers, one at £2.40, t'other at £3.40! I drank my way round in halves & thirds.

The drum marchers? Great craic when they first arrived singing 'Ole, Ole Ole Ole, Cornwall, Cornwall...', but the repetitions later on started to wear a little thin. Maybe that was for later-comers.

My 2nd beer was Mighty Oak Sand Bar and I fell into conversation with a group from Maldon, one of whom was the Mighty Oak brewer. Sound chaps. I've often pondered heading out that way, especially having read Roger's review of the Blue Boar, but it's not great for public transport. One of the guys reckoned it was 25mins bus from Chelmsford, so maybe I'll get the mission back on track.
