Hi all,

I may as well make use of this fancy new board !!!

I will be staying over for a night in Worksop this weekend. With any luck I should get an hour or so spare on the evening. I have just had a quick look and there seems to be loads of pubs so I will be spoilt for choice.

Does anyone have any local knowledge. The spoons will be a must but I should have time for another one or two !!

Cheers,

Del.

Delboy, if you can find another town to break your journey I would. Worksop is a country of its own, down at heel, former mining villages around. It really isn't good. I know the area pretty well, my Mrs is from nearby.
My guess is your stop is the Travelodge just off the M1/A1M. There is a pub opposite....they don't do food. Other options include Burger King providing chavs throwing stones at the windows are not considered a distraction.

Yes we are booked at the travelodge. The pub over the road is the Millhouse - http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/31310/ - . It is part of the Sizzling chain so surely they must do food ?? It is definately on the Sizzling website.

There has to be another decent pub in the town - at any rate it can't be worse than Cradley Heath - just ask Hoppy !!

On reflection I think you may be right, the problem was it is one of those places (or was) that stop serving food at 2 in the afternoon and about 8 in the evening.

Not sure my Mrs regards me as any type of hero!

I'm always happy to trust such an eloquent, well educated person with immaculate spelling who apparently is currently at university. :muppet::muppet::muppet::muppet:

What do you suppose he's studying? The Beano? Numbers to Ten for thicktw*ts? :moremad:

By the way isn't that "sh*t golfer" Lee Westwood number 3 in the world at the moment?

I have to admit I was smirking for the bit I read. Just in case it matters the article is 6 years old.

Del,

Last time in Worksop was July 2007 and there were two decent real ale pubs up at the station www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/31306 The Mallard which is the station bar and www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/31329 The Station Hotel closeby. This visit was before my pub reviewing days ,but these were decent boozers and served good ale, hope things havent changed in the last three years.Hope this helps.

Both the above are in the GBG2010 as is the Grafton Hotel. http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/58380/ and The Shireoaks Inn http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/58382/

Although I've never been in any of them at least they should have decent beer.
