Cask, depending on strength and /or hopping rates 3 - 5 days is reckoned to be the time it will remain in decent condition.

All keg beers (including smooth etc) will go off eventually but being inert could last a few weeks.

Shelf life is different, an unopened cask or keg will be weeks (for cask) or months (for keg) as long as it is stored correctly and cold. Bottles and cans are different again and it will depend on how they're stored and in the case of bottles if it's clear or coloured glass.

OK so for unopened cask we are talking a few weeks but when opened we are talking 3-5 days
But the more strength or hops the shorter the life right?
And for kegs once opened we are talking a few weeks, but unopened we are talking months?

That's about right. But on the other hand, you probably wouldn't want to buy loads of beer to store in your cellar for months, because that would be tying up your capital, with a long time to wait before getting any income over the bar.

Stronger hoppier beers will last longer than weaker or low hopped beers

You see I have been talking with a pubco. And they have metioned the offer of a part tie on the barrels where they supply me Boddingtons and caling at a good price where the pub was selling it for £2.25 a pint on a 50% proffit margin.

But I will need to find out if this is not short sell by date stock or not. So how long do you think the barrels should last please?

Many people have gone bankrupt dealing with pubcos, take professional advice before signing or agreeing to anything.

No; but a quick Google says the guys who run it are ex-investment bankers so the previous comment still applies.
