View Full Version : Age is just a number!

Over the years of using this forum I have always had the impression that most users are , shall we say, a little more mature than me!

I have met a few of you on the Black Country crawl but there are quite a few who have joined since then. During this period of boredom I was wondering what our ages are?

Fell free not to respond as it is a little personal and I am just being nosy to be honest.

I will kick off and announce that I am 48.

I seem to remember Soup Dragon starting a thread years ago inviting people to introduce themselves but I can't find it. He may have been using the name Historian or Archivist back then though!

Come this June 20th I'll be hitting the big 60, will there be a pub open to celebrate in by then? Hope so.

Two score years plus 11.5, so hopefully the pubs will be open for my next anniversary!

Happy birthday young man!
I suspect I'm the oldest or at least one of them. I'm 68 almost 69 and my next birthday should have been a Bank Holiday!

I am 66 but hope the pubs will be open on 25th November for my birthday. My son has the same birthday as me and wants to go to Manchester or Sheffield for the weekend.I suggested bringing it forward to the summer as the weather is better but that looks a bit unlikely now

65,though I doubt if the pubs will be open for my birthday in May.I should think that supplies of the good stuff will have dried up by then, too.

I've been 45 for some time now. But more and more white hairs may require an upward revision.

My last session in a pub was my 70th birthday on March 14th. After that the government sent me into 12 weeks isolation for being in the old gits club!

Lets hope the pubs reopen by September ,when this song (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HCTunqv1Xt4) becomes more relevant.

Here was me thinking I was 53, until Mrs A helpfully pointed out that I'm actually 54 - that's women for you! Am thinking of exchanging her for a younger model :D

Here's hoping the pubs are open in October for the next one...

Bit of a coincidence this thread, yesterday was my 58th birthday. I celebrated wildly, I did two "Expert" level Sudoku puzzles and walked anti-clockwise around our small garden for a radical change from my usual route. Anyway, like Jim, sometimes I feel much older, then surprisingly unexpectedly I have the occasional day when I feel young and energised. We're all as young, or as old, as we feel.

A belated happy birthday.
At 59 and 3/4, in my head I feel young, my body often begs to differ

Funny that. The second time I met you, you were a year younger than the first time.:)

Smiling.

I work with a fellow who is of similar age to me but genuinely has not usually got an exact clue as to his own age. Once, on realising it was his birthday and therefore being called out for cakes, he actually phoned his wife to check his age. He was two years out in his own estimation; true tale.

One of my drinking companions in my local Camra branch was last year named as the oldest ever volunteer worker at the Camra GBBF. He has just had his 87th birthday. I am only about 6th in our local "old gits" branch.
