:D

Rumour has it that Lord Bilimoria and Molson Coors are upping the ante by changing the name of Cobra to Marabou Stork, a predator of the mongoose.

When I saw the heading "Fight started by Hondo" I thought maybe he'd had a rowdy pub session last night.

Well they only had a Cobra on the menu, what was he supposed to do.

Thanks heavens it isn't Zingaro

I've tried it. The first time the hotel was out of Kingfisher but they said 'try this, it's very nice.' As it was chilled to about 0.5C the fact that it was about 8% alcohol and all flavour was frozen out of it, so it seemd OK. Ish.

A couple of days later we were in a dry hotel so I sloped off to the beer shop in the village to smuggle back the neccessaries. They'd run out of Kingfisher too the buggers and only had Zingero. God was it awful, chilling beer in a bathroom sink when the water is about 25C anyway is a hopeless task. The next day, thankfully, he'd got some more Kingfisher and all became right with the world.

"However, we have identified that there is a genuine gap in the market for the original Indian recipe beer to challenge the dominance of the two established Indian beer brands, Kingfisher and Cobra."

a genuine gap in the market ?. Is there ?.

I go Cobra every time and if that's not available then Kingfisher is good enough..

Have to say I've seen bigger gaps, like the one in the England back 4 for example.

Anyway, as said will be amusing to sit back and watch them try to penetrate this market. Could have a temporary preferential effect on the prices downwards....

FACT: The Britannia in Rochester is the only pub in the Medway area that sells Cobra as a draught beer.

Not sure how this really ties in with threads subject matter, but just thought I would enlighten those who don't usually venture south of London.

Personally, I much prefer Cobra to Kingfisher. The last pint of the latter I had - Kent Curry in Dartford, I think - was beyond foul.

Where there might be an opportunity is with the large number of pubs that are becoming self-styled Indian bar/lounge/restaurants. If they have a decent bar area and are happy for people to come in just for a drink then there could be some interest in lesser known Indian beers.
