Good week:

Oakham Bishops Farewell*
Hopback Summer Lightening*
Empire Robohop
Titanic Plum Porter*
Salopian Cliff Edge*

Thoroughly enjoyed the Plum Porter as ever but, as I've mentioned it before, BOTW goes to Salopian Cliff Edge.
A new one from Salopian to me. Pale, tropical, bitter and very easy to drink at 4.7%.

Croydon.

Only beer taken and therefore BOTW was Adnams Ghost Ship, which sailed through and past the three pint test in The George (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/35541/).

Next week visiting some very obscure parts of the Birmingham Canal Navigations ,hence Bathams and Doris Pardoe action.

Just two pubs visited last week (more than once though), but The Farnham Beerex on Saturday helped boost the beer diversity and numbers.

Pubs

Flowerpots Perridge Pale
Salopian Darwins Origin
Dukeries Ray Of Sunshine
North Yorkshire Porter
North Yorkshire White Lady
Reunion Talwar

Beerex

Crafty Brewing Five Hop IPA
Tiny Rebel Juicy
Totally Brewed Slap In The Face
Greyhound Cosmos
Fallen Acorn Crimea River
Craft Brews iPA
Elusive Spear Of Destiny
Tillingbourne Hop Troll
Vibrant Forest Fragacea

The Fallen Acorn Crimea River Was particularly special , a 9.0% Imperial Stout , but BOTW is Tiny Rebel Juicy a good all round quaffable beer if you like tropical tasting hops.

A much better week, this week.

Ainsty Ales - Blonde.
Acorn - Gorlovka.*
Ossett - Styrian Cardinal.*
Atom - Red Shift.
Horbury - Toffee Oatmeal Stout.*
Rat - Lab Rat.
First Chop - IPA.*
Great Newsome - Yan Tan Tethera.
Revolutions - Switch # 14.
Phoenix - Black Bee.
North Riding - Cascade.*
Five Towns - Peculiar Blue (Rhubarb Edition).
Wilde Child - Risk Avoidance.
Salt - Ikat. (Keg)

A strong field, this week, but I particularly enjoyed the Gorlovka (Impy Stout), which I've not seen for a while. Disappointing Beer of the Week goes to the Ikat, an 8% DDH IPA. Was expecting the gustatory equivalent of being whacked across the face with a large frying pan, but it was all a bit 'meh'. Paying £3.25, for a half, didn't exactly endear it to me, either.

Acorn - Gorlovka.*

I've frequently found this one on sale in Northern (probably Yorkshire) JDWs. It's a decent pint but is it really an Imperial Stout? At 6% I would say no but have still enjoyed many pints of it.

I mentioned Impy Stout in brackets, as some people wouldn't know what it proclaims to be, from name alone. However, as it's not even a gateway 8%, I'd agree with you. Having said that, I think I read somewhere (Martyn Cornell?) that the style got weaker over the years, after it was introduced. When it's on form, I'd go as far as to say its excellent.

My feelings entirely. I'm sure I must have put it through the 3 pint test somewhere or other!
