No footie this week, although if Murray does well that may provide a sport excuse at the pub. Dave is mumbling something about cricket as well.

Consumption is not high on one's priority list at present but a sneaky pint of SALTAIRE Hazelnut Coffee Porter was quaffed in the 7 Stars last night and was excellent. Noted also a certain bloke having a half or 8......

I actually had a Mallinsons beer last night that I didn't really like

Hops At Work at 5.3% was far too strong and hoppy for me. I didn't want a second pint of it.

Luckily Mallinsons Wipeout, Bridestones American Ruby Mild and Ushers 1824 were also on, but I don't think any will win this weeks BOTW.

It was fine for the first half and then it started to get hard work as the very bitter taste got hold.

Must be one of those that sound good on paper. Unfortunately, the pub in Wakefield that used to stock Mallinsons on a regular basis has just been taken over. May need to root around a bit more in future. :(

Roll on friday , not had a decent pint since June 10th , 2 weeks of Greek lager is enough for anyone , though i did find a bar serving ouzo in half pints :D

 Oggy, if I was drinking ouzo in half pints, I don't think I'd care whether I'd had a decent pint or not! :D

It did come with half pint of iced water to dilute and a plate of spiced cucumber , olives and cheese , all for 2.50 euros .

Didnt realise that there were so many different sorts of ouzo , i counted 30 in one shop , much smoother than the brands we get over here

A good week for variety.Tried the following:

East Coast: Hoppers No.8.
Bob's Brewery: White Lion
Ossett: Citra
Phoenix: Thirsty Bob
Hardknott: Light Cascade
Loch Leven: Golden Goose
Milestone: Crusader
Angus Ales: Mashie Niblick
Great Heck: Staggering Genius
Milton: Nero
Titanic: Captain Smith
WharfeBank: Tether Blonde

The Hardknott deserves an honourable mention, but the Milton Nero was a fabulous stout. It's well in the lead and my probable winner for this week, unless I can squeeze a couple in later today.

A bit if a comedown this week after 2 weeks away. Had it not been for yet another short notice secret Squeeze gig at the Charlton's Anchor & Hope on Thursday I wouldn't even have made a pub until yesterday's local quiz night. A combination of World Cup footy and hot weather meant that a lot of Dartford's pubs were running a bit dry yesterday and choices were a bit limited so I will pick my BotW as Sambrook Wandle that I had with my pre-gig 'Spoons curry on Thursday in the Gate Clock at Greenwich. I have had a few pints of it before but it never really caught me as being anything special. Maybe the heat and the Beef Madras brought out the refreshing side of it that I had previously been unable to unearth.

It's going to be one of those "Blonde" things  but a very nice beer, Acorn Blonde from the outstanding brewery in Barnsley

In complete contrast although it's still from Yorkshire. My BOTW is going to be Erebus from Summer Wine Brewery in Holmfirth. A 4.5% Dark Mild (so they claim) that's really a Porter.

It was excellent on Friday in the Regal Moon in Rochdale.
