An average sort of week, but at least I made it to the pub, this week.

Slaters - Haka.
Captain Cook - Resolution.
Northern Monk - Eternal.*
Beartown - Creme Bearlee.
Wilde Child - The Expatriate.
Abbeydale - Voyager IPA (Vic Secret, Enigma & Dr Rudi version)*
Stancill - Black.
Hawkshead - Gold.
Melwood - Derby Stout.
Hadley - Moonstone IPA.*
Horbury - JFB Mosaic.
Fernandes - Cherry Chocolate Stout.

Easy winner was the Eternal, a session IPA featuring Simcoe and Centennial hops. Head and shoulders above the rest. Sampled at The Hop (https://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/66330/), Wakefield.

Northampton and High Holborn.

Sharp's -- Doom Bar
Marston's -- Pedigree
Kings Cliffe -- 5C
Great Oakley -- Egrit
Oakham -- Bishops Farewell *
Phipps NBC -- Gold Star
Oakham -- Inferno*
Tiny Rebel -- Sertified Simcoe
Oakham -- Citra * (>3PT)

BOTW goes to an outstanding Oakham Bishops Farewell in the every reliable Malt Shovel (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/30114/),within spitting distance of the Carlsberg mega brewery.Quenched the thirst perfectly.

Next week start of the boating extravaganza ,with the first leg down the Nene Valley.

Decent week:

Kings Cliffe 5C
Great Oakley Tiffield Thunderbolt
Purity Longhorn IPA*
Phipps Gold Star
Oakham Bishops Farewell*
Crouch Vale Brewers Gold*
Castle Rock Elsie Mo
Engine Shed Project Ubiquitous*
Abbeydale Absolution
Blue Monkey Infinity*
Blue Monkey Ape Ale*

BOTW Engine Shed Project Ubiquitous. An offshoot of the Brunswick brewery I believe producing a thoroughly modern Citra IPA which belied it’s 6% and slid down rather too well.

A pretty decent week with drinking trips to York and Bradford,

Fyne - Jarl
Tiny Rebel - Fugg Life
Cromarty - Happy Chappy
York - Guzzler
Rat - Black Forest Rateaux
Brew York - Brew York
Brew York - Keras
Rudgate - Ruby Mild
Alchemy - Photon
Turning Point - Embargo
Gene Pool - Cocos
Brass Castle - Bad Kitty
Gt Heck - Chopper
Pheonix - West Coast IPA
Thornbridge - Jaipur
Kirkstall - Ignore the ignorant
Lees - Gold
North Riding - US IPA (V12)
Titanic - Captain Smith
York - Ghost

BOTW: Rat - Black Forest Rateaux one day they'll run out of bad rodent based puns. Stiff competition among those dark beers even beating the mighty Bad Kitty.

Has anyone else had problems with warm or rank beer in the heatwave? I had a few last week.

Batham's Mild 3.5%
Leatherbritches Lemongrass & Ginger 3.8%
Church End Goats Milk 3.8%
Clun Pale 4.1%
Oakham Citra 4.2%
Batham's Best 4.3%
Steamin' Billy Bitter 4.3%
Green Duck Duck Under 4.4%
Blythe Palmers Poison 4.5%
Greene King Old Speckled Hen 4.5%
Hobson's Town Crier 4.5%
Church End Coffin Stout 4.6%
Leatherbritches Ashbourne IPA 4.9%
4Ts Stout 5.0%
Hopcraft Neapolitan Stout 5.0%
Craddock's Capra 5.0%
Craddock's Troll 5.4%

I don't know why I like Batham's Best so much. It's old school and not even all that strong. However, it has a smoothness that makes it very drinkable. There is a sweetness but it's completely offset by a bitter aftertaste. I tried it in two of their tied houses and the SVR King & Castle last week and it was excellent in all three. (£2.85 and £3.15).

A slight improvement on last week,

Wye Valley HPA
Timothy Taylor Knowle Spring
Hop Back GFB
Dark Star Hop Head
Sam Smiths Extra Stout
Trumans Bow Bells
Redemption Hopspur
Sambrooks Powerhouse Porter
Sambrooks Lavander Hill
Weird Beard Mariana Trench

The Hophead was very good in The Harp (https://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/53779/), somewhere near what it used to be like two or three years ago and a contender, but BOTW is Redemption Hopspur in great shape in The Coach And Horses (https://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/22213/) , Greek Street.
