Off to Whitby soon where there seems to be loads of pubs.

There are a few on my list to do but, as always, open to suggestions.

Cheers,

Del.

These are reckoned to be the best

The Black Horse (https://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/29817/)
Little Angel Inn (https://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/29848/)
The Waiting Room (https://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/84296/)

some like Middle Earth Tavern (https://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/53527/) but for me it promises more than it delivers, The Endeavour (https://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/29828/) up the street is probably a better pub. Over the bridge The Station Inn (https://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/29872/) isn't bad. I haven't been in The Green Dragon (https://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/85709/) but it might be fun. Arch & Abbey (https://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/86534/) could be open by now as well.

If you want to try the local beers, The Pier Inn (https://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/29857/) has a house beer which is from Whitby Brewery; the brewery tap (https://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/84915/) is worth a visit but closes at tea time. I like the Black Horse because of its preserved interior - front bar only, the back bar is a sympathetic but modern creation - but the beers are nothing special, in my opinion. The Board Inn (https://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/29819/)along the road has good quality beers if you don't object to Theakstons. A couple that I regretted missing when I was in Whitby briefly in March (as well as the Little Angel, the Station and the Waiting Room, mentioned by OB) would be the Elsinore (https://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/29827/), which seems like a good locals pub with mainstream beers, and the Jolly Sailors (https://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/29843/), a Sam Smiths pub on the harbour.

I liked the Station and the Little Angel had a good beer choice but looked like it was a music venue in the evening. The micropub on the Station is a late opener so I missed it.

It was touristy even in Winter!

Heading to Whitby this coming weekend, this thread has come in very useful. Yes, I know it's Goth Weekend...

Nothing wrong with Goths!

The Quirky Den (https://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/86677/) has opened since my visit. Looks good to me.

Thanks for the extra suggestion. I can deal with all sorts, just hoping Northern don't turn up with a two-carriage pacer from Middlesbrough...
