I have booked a hotel in Farringdon for Saturday night so I will probably end up there for the last couple of hours. There look to be a few decent pubs but are there any I shouldn't miss?

Not sure where I will be drinking during the day yet - I am open to suggestions.

Unfortunately the two best pubs (imo) in the immediate area are not open weekends, Ye Olde Mitre (https://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/23381/)and The Jerusalem Tavern. (https://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/23332/)
You may have to travel a little to the west, or south of the river.

A few I have looked at are shut on Saturday and Sunday. Why is that?

Its a bit of a pain to be honest!

Most pubs in and near the City close weekends, all their business is from city workers in the week.

Craft Beer Co. on Leather Lane (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/23311/) is a short walk from Farringdon tube and is open on Saturdays until 11pm.Worth a visit for a wide choice of real ale and won't be too busy later on in the evening. In the 2018 GBG.

Enjoy the match.

Hope the beers were ok. Commiserations on the result. There's nothing worse than losing a play off final - I know, we lost in 2011 at Manchester and 2012 at Wembley. Didn't even feel like drowning my sorrows. Just felt like taking it all out on the first person to say "there's always next year"! Football, eh?

It wasn't a good feeling losing that. We were awful first half and didn't deserve to win. I took it quite well as Fulham finished third they should have gone up anyway! I managed to "drown my sorrows" and did 17 new pubs over the course of the day!
