I have planned a Derbyshire pub crawl by public transport to which I have invited some people from in and around Sheffield, but there's no reason why it can't be extended to anyone else who is prepared to make the journey. The full description is attached as a PDF.

The route starts in Duffield, where there's a very nice micropub, but there'll be preliminary drinks at the Sheffield Tap and the Brunswick Inn near Derby station for those who want. Next will be the Holly Bush Inn, which is on Camra's inventory of historic pub interiors: a real treat. Then a walkabout in Belper: a choice of a traditional pub, a modern real ale bar and a micropub. Next it's Heanor, where there's a tremendous brewery tap called Marlpool; and finally Ilkeston, where anyone who has been before will be glad to revisit the Burnt Pig micropub, not to mention the excellent Dewdrop Inn near the station.

For those who are interested, the Derbyshire Wayfarer can be bought by post or over the phone - it's a really useful ticket and tremendously good value (especially for anyone over 60 who qualifies for the concession at just £6.30). For anyone coming from further afield than Sheffield, the start point would be Derby, and you can return there for your train home by catching a bus from Ilkeston (fast and frequent - takes about 30 mins).

The crawl will take place on Saturday, 9th June 2018.
