We have corrected the name of The H.G. Wells (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/53423/), I am now intrigued though, presumably the area is mentioned in one of his books.

Well I didn't know previously but having done a little research it appears HG Wells lived on The Avenue in Worcester Park for a while. The Avenue, by the way, is not particularly near this pub.

Intriguing, still nice to see him get a reference, I quite like it as a pub name really.
