Don't miss http://www.beerhouse.pt/web/ The Beerhouse on the quayside in Funchal.

Brews a couple of its own beers one of which is effectively a dark mild. We visited here every day for 14 days for either a drink or food or both.

Only spent one day in Lisbon, but quite liked http://www.hennessys-pub.com/ Hennessy's Irish pub just off the quayside in a small square.

Oh I'm going to Portugal next Thurs/Fri on road trip for a week hoping to potentially get to Porto so if I do and stumble on something or somebody adds something I'll try and visit and assess.
