Kent

Wantsum-Black Pig 4.8%abv. Described as an Imperial Russian Porter, whatever that might be.Bible black, lasting white head.Dry, dried fruit.I haven't been greatly impressed with Wantsum beers in the past, but this was good, taken in Larkins' Alehouse (https://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/85780/) which is a boon to ale drinkers in my part of Kent.

Not a great week :-

St Austell Trelawny 3.8%
Harvey's Sussex Best 4.0%
Oakham Moon Landing 4.2%
Harvey's Old 4.3%
Inveralmond Bheira 4.3%
Oakham Bishop's Farewell 4.6%
Titanic Plum Porter 4.9%
Otter OPA 4.9%
Greene King Abbot 5.0%
Stonehenge Rudolph 5.0%
Acorn Gorlovka Imperial Stout 6.0%

The winner is the Oakham Moon Landing as tried at the Bald Buzzard in Leightoin Buzzard. It's a low ABV Red and the best of a poor bunch although the Harvey's beers were OK.

Very quiet week ,just a trip to Greenwich for pints of Titanic Plum Porter and BOTW Thornbridge Wild Holly ,a decent Xmas ale in The Gipsy Moth (www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/24023/).

Next week looks modest until the footie.

Hammerpot RIPA and BOTW Abbeydale Illumination this week.

The RIPA is described as a black IPA which still seems a contradiction to me but it tasted like a very good porter. The Illumination is on the pale side of BBB, 4.8% and without being exceptional is a very good quaffing pint.

Pretty average sort of week.

Fernandes - Amarillo Red.*
Ilkley - Tribus Lupulus v2.6.
Ilkley - Fireside.
Cross Bay - Guell Mosaic.
North Riding - Mosaic Pale.*
Tres Bien - A Circus Tale.
Kelham Island - Smoke on the Water.
Chin Chin - Soul Saver.*
Jolly Boys - Cascade Blonde.

As the Mosaic Pale has been nominated several times, I'll give it to the Soul Saver. Unfortunately, there is very little info available on this beer and I didn't take any notes at the time. The beer that got everybody talking though was Smoke on the Water. The common concensus, in Harry's Bar, was that it tasted of jugged kippers!

A toss-up between two contrasting styles:

Deya Dare I Say Breakfast Porter (5.4%)
Alphabet Brewing Juice Springsteen (4.5%)

The Deya was a robust breakfast porter taken in SE15's Beer Shop (https://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/82702/) and more than made up for the rather lacklustre service. The wonderfully-named Juice Springsteen was a tropical IPA taken in the even more wonderfully-named Four Hundred Rabbits (http://www.400rabbits.co.uk/) a few doors down from Beer Shop and not currently on this website. A craft kegger with a balanced combination of hops, fruit and alcohol hit. I'm a sucker for a dark beer however, so there's a predictable winner this week:

BOTW: Deya Dare I Say Breakfast Porter

Pig & Porter Slow Black Stout 5.1%.

Another excellent beer from these guys, they never seem to brew an average one never mind a bad one.

Tried in The Baum of course.
