When the Hatters used to have games at Barnsley, I always used to go to the Commercial at Chapeltown (https://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/53652/) before the game. I've not been to many pubs in Barnsley, but those that I have gone in have been pretty ordinary. Maybe things have improved. Alan Winfield liked the Old No.7 (https://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/33676/) earlier this year, and it's been a Camra favourite (https://whatpub.com/pubs/BAR/140/old-no-7-barnsley) for some time. Wasn't too impressed when I was there about five years ago.

No One????
I've only been to the two 'spoons, of which the Silkstone Inn (https://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/71883/) is the better bet.

It's a few years since I last went, but Old No 7 (https://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/33676/) was definitely the stand out pub in terms of beer. The two 'Spoons were also decent enough and the Dove Inn (https://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/33610/) is worth a look for a lively pre-match atmosphere, good pub snacks and plenty of Tykes memorabilia, if not so much for the ale. I also enjoyed The Commercial (https://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/33596/).

Cheers lads...
I have the Old No 7, The dove and The commercial on my list - plus the spoons.
Nothing else has really caught my eye so i will take it as it comes. 17.30 kick off so plenty of time ......
