Siren Acid Jam, another bourbon aged keg beer, this time a sour and hellishly expensive, but a great beer all the same.

Did you not get to the new JDW (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/13857/) at Bitterne? Shurely that would have been a priority?

A pretty pathetic list for me due to going to two isolated Spoons and (partly) going down with a cold on a visit to Notts.

Rudgate Patriot Pale 3.6%
RCH Goldbine 3.8%
Pheasantry Red Rye 4.6%
Stonehenge Great Bustard 4.8%
Jenning's Snecklifter 5.1%
Castle Rock Screech Owl 5.5%
Black Sheep Riggwelter 5.9%
Oakham Green Devil (Bottle) 6.0%
Little Critters Hazelnut Milk Stout 6.0%
Little Critters C Monster 6.5%

I'm going for the Little Critters Hazelnut Milk Stout which wouldn't suit many people as it was confectionery in a glass. I don't think I could manage three unless it involved a substantial wager.

BOTW Little Critters Hazelnut Milk Stout

Kent:the sole beer taken on licenced premises is a still worthy, if somewhat unlikely BOTW-Mobberley Brewhouse Boom Juice 3.8%abv. A tropical pale ale-Kiwi hops innit?-Stone fruit and raspberries, followed by a long bitter finish.Light gold in colour. Not entirely to my taste, but I can see the attraction.

I somehow missed that one.

A minimal week in Hertford.

Greene King -- Abbott
3 Brewers -- IPA
Tring -- Pale + Four *
Mighty Oak -- Slayers Ale

BOTW goes to Tring Pale + Four ,lots of American hops and plenty of flavour ,on good form in The Old Cross Tavern.

Next week a bit of boating in The East Midlands, then a session in The Wenlock.

Just a Friday teatime session, this week.

Small World - Long Moor Pale.
Small World - Thunderbridge Stout.*
Fernandes - Two Brewers.*
Acorn - Zeus IPA.
Fernandes - Summit.
Fernandes - Blue Lady.
Ossett - Dragon Bones.

I enjoyed the stout, but for sheer drinkability the Two Brewers was the easy winner. Another pale and hoppy 'un from Fernandes.

A few days last week cycling in the Welsh Marches (Hereford and Salop), drinking mostly local beers;

Ludlow Gold 4%
Hobsons Best 3.8%
Wye Valley Bitter 3.7%
Ludlow Best 3.7%
Woods Shropshire Lad 4.5%
Goffs Lancer 3.8% (pretty poor, but comes from Gloucestershire)
Arrow Bitter 4% (only available here (https://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/14290/), where it's brewed)
Otter Pale Ale 4.9%
Hobsons Town Crier 4.5%
Hobsons Dark Mild 3.2%
Swan Armbreaker 6%
Ludlow Boiling Well 4.7%
Joules Slumbering Monk 4.5%
Ludlow Black Knight 4.5%
Hobsons Shropshire Stout 4.3%
Three Tuns Pale 4.3%
Six Bells Ow Do? 4%
Clun Pale Ale 4.1%
Three Tuns Clerics Cure 5%
Three Tuns Mild 3.4%
Lancaster English Pale Ale 4.6%

Only about two or three beers that I didn't enjoy, and only one that I can recall being in not good condition (Three Tuns Pale at a country pub (https://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/31989/) a few miles from the brewery).

The odd man out was the Lancaster beer, with just time for a swift half between trains in Stockport at the Petersgate Tap (https://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/84579/). A very nice beer hopped with Bramling Cross, Challenger and Golding. Very more-ish, and any other week would have been the clear winner.

Beer of the week though was the Hobsons Best in the Crown, Clunton (https://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/55310/). I was only going to have a half, but it was so good I had another. (That's the only downside to cycling, beer-wise - drinking only halves and limited to one per stop. Luckily I was only two miles from my destination so was able to treat myself!)
