Happy New Year everyone, here's to a happy and healthy 2017.

Hope y'all enjoyed your festivities and are not suffering too badly from excesses, or anything else. I had a marvellous lunch at Chez Bruce and cleverly avoided the predictable defeat at anfield on the way home, surprisingly stayed awake for the fireworks on tv in front of a blazing real fire. Nice.

Anyway, the thread. Bottle of Oakham Bishops Farewell to blow the cobwebs away (5% in the bottle vs 4.6% at the pump). Good start to the year. Just hope I can shake this vicious gout attack very soon.

Cheers Peeps. tm

A very under inspiring Hammerpot Mosaic, no defence I knew it was unlikely to be any good.
Hope the gout sorts itself out Jim.

We'll gloss over the bottle of Gloombar that was consumed at 2.35am, and major on the quart of Goacher's Crown Imperial Stout enjoyed at lunch at The Five Bells (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/58978/)

I've still got some Brewdog Mr President and tins of Punk IPA. Although I wouldn't go near one of their bars they do have some good beers in my local Tesco at sensible prices. A pint of Mr President is on the cards for later. I'll just have to forget all about Donald J Trump.

Broke my duck of the year when Mrs B. dragged me out to t'moors and into an unexpectedly Germanic pub, after a proper British Pale Ale from Wainstones of Stokesley I had a drop of proper German Dunkle to go with my proper German Wurst for lunch, cracking!

Oakham Bishops Farewell to slake the thirst followed swiftly by a Titanic Plum Porter to keep out the cold. Decent start.

Sadly a bottle of Belhaven-80 shilling. They probably spend more money on sugar than they do on hops.Filth in a bottle. Still! finished it after my curry.

First was a half of Long Man American Pale Ale 4.8% in the Cricketers in Brighton. OK but not really my style. Followed by 23 different beers in 24 different pubs over three days on the south coast. A tie for the beer most drunk: two pints each of Harveys Sussex Best and Downlands Old 4.4%. Also enjoyed Franklins Smoked Porter 5% (plenty of chilli in there, too) and Dark Star Creme Brulee 5.9% - does exactly what it says on the pump clip - only a half of that. Only one really naff beer: Sharps Doom Bar Reserve 6% - tasted of metal polish.
