East Sussex:

Harvey's-Bonfire Boy 5.8%abv- Rich roast malt, a bit of woodsmoke. Mellow, perhaps too mellow for lunchtime.
Hurst Brewery-Keeper's Gold 4.4%abv-Well rounded Golden Ale:the malt given scope to complement the nettley hops.
My BOTW-a somewhat unusual seasonal heavyweight from the home of Bonfire celebrations, Harvey's Bonfire Boy

Hurst Brewery-Keeper's Gold 44%abv-Well rounded Golden Ale:the malt given scope to complement the nettley hops.

I hope that was meant to be 4.4%!!!!

A few days in Cumbria and Scotland up to Glasgow produced a varied list :-

Bank Top Flat Cap 4.0%
Carlisle Spun Gold 4.2%
Ayr Rabbie's Porter 4.3%
Isle Of Skye Skye Gold 4.3%
Theakston Vanilla Stout 4.5%*
Cumbrian Legendary Paciific Voyager 4.5%
Carlisle Oatmeal Stout 4.7%
Elgood's Indian Summer 4.8%
Keswick KSB 4.8%
Hawkshead Brodie's Prime 4.9%*
Drygate Seven Peaks Mosaic IPA 5.0%*
Woodforde's Norfolk Bowman 5.0%
Titanic S.E.A 5.0%
Shepherd Neame Hot Night At The Village 5.0%
Adnam's Sloe Porter 5.0%
Brewster's Hop Quest 5.2%*
Hardknott Intergalactic Space Hopper 5.2%*
Castle Rock Phoenix Red 5.5%
Truman's Sampson Strong 5.8%
Thornbridge Jaipur IPA 5.9%*
Oakham Green Devil IPA 6.0%*
Broughton Old Jock 6.7%

The Green Devil IPA is probably the real winner in two Glasgow Spoons but I don't like repeats so it's the Drygate Seven Peaks Mosaic IPA (£2.09) in the Glasgow Society Rooms Lloyds.
The above is also one of three contenders for a Cheapskate award, the other two being the Jaipur for £3.10 at the Cavers Arms (not a JDW) in Dumfries but the clear winner is at the Auld Brig in Irvine. This is a horrible shopping centre JDW in a town that a friend described as "ghastly" but the 6.7% ABV Broughton Old Jock there was a magnificent £1.29 a pint. Now what exactly did Tim Martin say about supermarkets selling beer at a loss?

A lot of merely 'OK' stuff, with standouts countable on the fingers of one hand. I'm sure I've given the gong to Milk St in a previous week sometime this year, so the accolade goes to Gun's moreish Parabellum Milk Stout which I chanced upon at WC1's Holborn Whippet (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/77473/). It's unfined too, so I'm sure it'll tick some boxes for someone...

There were some interesting pubs as well Nigel. Unfortunately you missed my post on the CAMRA forum (as Citra1) a few days before my visit suggesting we could meet up for a pint, never mind there will be a next time as Salisburys just under an hour away from me by train.
