Those of you who have been to the Gardeners Rest (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/43179/) in Neepsend, Sheffield might be interested to know that long-time owners Eddie and Pat are retiring soon. A Community Society has been set up with the intention of buying the pub, with a view to continuing and expanding its role at the heart of the community. I understand that there are other bids on the table, but Eddie would like to sell to the community if the appropriate amount is raised. The share offer closes on 19th November, and if the minimum amount of £100, 000 is not reached, it is likely that the pub will be sold to a pubco. (£22, 800 pledged at the time of writing.)
