The following pubs are all listed as being in cambridgeshire when they are actually in northamptonshire
The Chequered Skipper - Ashton
The Shuckburgh Arms - Stoke Doyle
The Red Lion - Warmington
The White Swan - Woodnewton
Also The Royal Oak - Duddington is listed in Lincolnshire when it is also in northamptonshire

This is an anomaly in the way the site works, all the Northamptonshire villages listed are in the postal town of Peterborough as they have a Peterborough post code and so get listed in there and appear on the Cambridgeshire page. If you look at the Peterborough page here (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/towns/peterborough/cambridgeshire/) it says "Areas in the postal town of Peterborough". Likewise the Royal Oak has a Stamford post code (PE9) and gets listed in that postal town and therefore Lincolnshire. They should also really appear at the bottom of the county page where it says "Areas also in Northamptonshire", not sure why they don't, there must be a glitch in the code and that's one for Dave.

This pub (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/66306/) shows what usually happens, on the pub page it says North Yorkshire / Otley / Blubberhouses but appears on the West Yorkshire / Otley postal area page (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/towns/otley/west-yorkshire/) as it has a LS21 post code and at the bottom of the North Yorkshire page (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/counties/north-yorkshire/) under "Areas also in North Yorkshire", there are a few more pubs near county borders that appear the same way in their postal town regardless of county and on the "correct" county page as "areas also in...".

One last point is that the county does not appear in the pub addresses.

It's not really an anomaly in the way the site works, it is more just one of many unintended consequences of the Royal Mail's 'post town madness' / 'postal county madness'.

Associations were made decades ago between smaller towns / villages and a nearby larger town / city, with 'postal counties' unhelpfully not fully matching administrative boundaries. The Royal Mail's use of counties in addresses officially ceased in 1996, but anything based on the Postcode Address File database as it was before 2000 will still feature the former postal counties (even if this field is not displayed).

Thanks for the response.I understand how the site works but there seems to be some sort of inconsistency/glitch with the pubs ive listed.

Apethorpe,Barnwell,Fotheringay,Kings Cliffe,Nassington,Polebrook,Oundle,Southwick,Waden hoe,Yarwell,Upper Benefield all come under peterborough postal area but are listed correctly as being in Northamptonshire and appear in Areas also in Northamptonshire. The places ive listed,( some of which are a lot further from the county border than some of these places) also come under peterborough but are listed as being in cambridgeshire and do not appear in Areas of Northamptonshire.

Its a similar situation with Duddington being placed in Lincolnshire under Stamford District whereas Collyweston & Easton on the Hill are correctly placed in Northamptonshire.

Also does the county in which a pub is listed affect the stats page on the site?

I couldn't claim to fully understand how the site works, but I suspect that the 'Areas also in...' feature was a manual fix. If so, it is probably those places given the misleading 'postal counties' treatment by the Royal Mail that are furthest away from the border that are most likely to have been missed. Those with a better memory than me may recall the history, but I suspect only Dave can answer your question about the statistics.

As the site lists pubs under counties - could someone please make the corrections!
