One of the pubs I used to visit in my previous life, when I lived and worked in Bradford, was The Jacobs Well. In those days it was basic, and handy for the bus stop back home. I had never thought of revisiting it, until I got an email from BFH, suggesting a beer festival there.

I was really impressed by the pub. Friendly, and basic, a good old style boozer. Bits have changed since my last visit, but only for the better. And there was the beer festival to sample too.

Oddly enough when I arrived, I was the third customer there. And one of the other two was BFH !
There were 9 beers on offer out of 15 for the festival. All coming through handpulls on the bar, and all reasonably priced; and all brewed by brewsters.

I have thought for a long time that brewsters can brew as well as brewers, and this selection went a long way to reinforce that thought. A couple of Mallinsons on offer, the 'Baby Mosaic' was a classic, but there again I do like the hop. So Oldershaw 'Mosaic Blonde' seemed like a good second choice,
and did not disappoint.

I am sorry but it just did not do it for me. A very pleasant mild, but the other flavours never came through. I was more impressed by Bradford Brewery 'Jaspa' with its subtle strawberry tones. I was getting towards my five a day with no effort !

The festival runs through until Sunday, and there is all day opening Saturday and Sunday. There are thirds available as well for us tickers. The pub is just up from Bradford Interchange, so is easy enough for transport links, and well worth a call. But I cannot be sure you will tick the BFH there !!
