Darkstar- Hophead
Youngs- Bitter
Greene King - Golden Speckled Hen
White Park - Park Light IPA*
Stella Artoise (lager)
Vibrant Forest - Citra *
Red Cat- Tomcat*
Red Cat- C60*
St Austell -Tribute
Porter Street - Oval 6
Red Cat Brewery comes up trumps for the second week running, pushed hard by the very excellent Vibrant Forest Citra, but at 6.0% the C60 was and still is awesome, lots of Simcoe hops to the fore and BOTW.

BOTW Blue Monkey Infinity
Another winner from Blue Monkey. Dry as dust, pale and very bitter. Not only does the first pint kill a thirst but it also whistles through the 3 pint test.

George Wright - Pipe Dream

A good week for me with three beer festivals visited only one of which was planned!

Mighty Oak Oscar Wilde Mild 3.7%
Great Oakley Wagtail 3.9%
Milestone Classic Dark Mild 4.0%
Hoggley's Mill Lane Mild 4.0%*
Celt Experience Dark Age 4.0%*
Grainstore Rutland Osprey 4.0%
Evan Evans Golden Hop 4.3%
Witham No Name 4.3%*
Red Fox Strawberry Ale 4.3%*
Wibbler's Citra Celeste 4.5%
Cotleigh Barn Owl 4.5%
Moody Goose Dirty Dog Stout 4.6%*
Titanic Desert Hero 4.8%
Slater's Smoked Porter 4.8%
Sharp's Special 5.0%
Slater's Queen Bee 5.0%
Nethergate Old Growler 5.0%
Coach Housee Post Horn 5.0%
Brodie's Old Street Pale 5,0%*
Hammerton N7 Pale 5.2%*
Moncada Notting Hill Ruby Rye 5.2%
Moody Goose Honey Bunny 5.3%
Nene Valley Big Bang Theory 5.3%*
Hammerton Pentonville Oyster Stout 5.3%*
Brodie's Jamaican Stout 5.4%*
Yeovil Posh IPA 5.4%
Southwark Brewing Company Harvard APA 5.5%*
Canopy Brewing Company Brockwell IPA 5.6%*
Banks's Feral Hop Hog 5.6%*
Thornbridge Jaipur IPA 5.9%*
Dark Star Six Hop Ale 6.5%*

I should explain a few of these, the Red Fox Strawberry Ale is a disaster on paper but somehow it worked, the Witham No Name is a boring brown beer but a worthy one with a very good hop flavour and I thought the Hammerton N7 pale was really outstanding. There's a whole month's worth of BOTW winners in there but the best was the Dark Star Six Hop Ale on gravity at the King William IV in Braintree beer festival. How did the boring TT Boltmaker's win the CBOB award last year when breweries like Dark Star and others come up with beers this good?

BOTW Dark Star Six Hop Ale

Rockin' Robin-Reckless Robin 4.5%abv:A new brewery for me. I'd always thought that Rockin Robin produced "traditional" beers. This was earthy, but in a contemporary manner.Grand."Extra Special Bitter"
Canterbury Ales (aka Canterbrew)-The Friar's Ale 4.3%abv:Mid brown, tropical fruits.Hoppy finish. Drinkable IPA.

My BOTW-Reckless Robin.

BOTW Dark Star Six Hop Ale
Sadly I have heard its got to be a permenantly brewed beer to get entered.Agree its a good beer and I think they use different hops each year so slight changes each year.

Reasonable week.

Marston's -- Pedigree (bright beer)
Moncada -- Notting Hill Blonde *
Oakham -- Green Devil IPA * (3PT)
Fuller's -- Wild River *

BOTW goes to Oakham Green Devil IPA in very drinkable form in The George ,almost forgot it was 6% and full of nettle flavour

Next week pub beer festival close to home then annual pilgrimage to The Southampton Arms so hoping for a great BOTW.

Quiet week for me, managing only a Friday teatime session at the Fernandes Tap, during the opening day of their festival.

Fernandes - Murderers Yard, Bread Street Red, Cannonball Hill Stout, Pane in the Glass, Westgate Wobbler.

Easy winner was the Cannonball, a nice 6% stout, served from the wood, which would seem to be a growing trend in West Yorkshire, at the moment.

These guys are still on fire. Another great 4.5% fruity ale.
