Kelham Island Pale Rider 5.2%*
Black Metal Yggdrasil 6.6%

There must be around half a dozen potential BOTW winners in there but it goes to Banks's Feral Hop Hog the latest in the Spoons series of International beers. This is an Australian hop bomb which I caught the start of in the E4 King's Ford. I'll be back for more tomorrow on Cheapskate Monday when it will only be £1.99 a pint. I've no doubt that Banks's and Adnam's are streets ahead of the other regional brewers that contribute to this series. An honourable mention must go to Kent Brewer's Reserve.

Very quiet week for me:

Five Towns - HB.*
Five Towns - May Day.*
Two Roses - Black Beauty Stout.
Otley - 03.

May Day is a huge Double IPA, weighing in at 8.4%, containing Mosaic, Citra, Nelson Sauvin, Chinook and Equinox hops. Definitely one for sipping, not glugging.

Wow I like the sound of that, some nice hops involved there.

Subtle it ain't! However, if you like the aromas and flavours of tropical fruit and pine, then this is the beer for you. (And me)

Speaking as the proud possessor of a traditional palate, where does it stand on the Jaipur/Kipling continuum?

Definitely more towards Jaipur.

Cloudwater Pale tried in The Baum. 4.1% of hoppy loveliness.

A brand new brewery whose beer I first tried at The Manchester Restaurant & Bar show earlier this year.

As it happens I had another pint of it in The Knott in Manchester last night.
