Morning all,

I’m meeting up with a friend of mine on Thursday in London and think it would good form to try and do some ‘weekday-only’ pubs.

Any suggestions for good ones? Jerusalem Tavern, Ye Olde Mitre and the Bell on Cannon St are well-known to me, but are there any others that are worth seeking out that fit the bill?

Peacock (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/23488/) on Minories, frustrating this doesn't open weekends (contrary to their website), as would be a good venue for a couple of hours comedy darts!
CAMRA discount. Hopefully more choice than jaqptim found.

Would have said Old Fountain, but that now opens weekends.

The Edgar Wallace (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/22089/) The Old Bank of England (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/23506/), and The Devereux (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/53778/).

Quite a few more around there that close on Sundays but open for all or part of Saturday.

As an aside, although I don't tend to go into the City that much at the weekend, there has definitely been something of a move over recent years to more pubs opening on Saturday (at least during the day, and - to a more limited extent - on Sundays).

Not too much to add on todays experience, would recommend as previously mentioned The Castle (http://http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/23517/)
but you have reviewed it in the past, agree with John on Harrild & Sons (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/81447/) (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/81447/) , The Gunmakers (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/23325/) is now well buggerd, scathing update to follow shortly, best beer of the day was in one of your mentioned pubs The Jerusalem Tavern (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/23332/) couple wildcard quick halves could be The Sutton Arms (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/23363/)basic but a little character and a couple of decent beers, today from Otley and Crate.
The Hat and Tun (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/23327/)not bad looking but not all that special as a pub and The Viaduct Tavern (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/23290/) is well worth a look architecturally but average beerwise, forget The Magpie And Stump (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/23538/) diagonally opposite, uninspiring and a total rip off, £4.85 for a pint of Adnams Ghostship.
