Some strong contenders this month, from York I really enjoyed The Rook and Gaskill (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/55938/) and The Waggon and Horses (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/43706/)along with The Woolpack (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/55941/)
From Winchester I was very impressed with The Fulflood Arms (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/14156/). Yesterday in London The Jerusalum Tavern really deliverd and later on Yesterday in Surbiton, I am always liking The Antelope (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/53206/) but the pub that stole that particular day and the month a couple of enjoyable drinks in a top notch real boozer. BOTW is The Lamb. (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/64629/)

I'm struggling a bit this month but will go for this (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/38970/) one. It's a suburban Holden's pub that is rather off the beaten track and didn't do any guest ales on my visit but it's a great example of an old school regional brewery tied house. Even if it had a guest I would probably have gone for the brewery beer anyway.
If you don't like any of the four Holden's beers you won't like it but I would happily return.

St Aldates Tavern (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/31676/)
Oxford has never been the easiest of places to find a great real ale ,but with the sad passing of Far From the Madding Crowd ,this pub came up trumps and delivered a great session .

Just beat off the Old Joint Stock ,which will get another (longer) visit next time I'm in Brum and feeling flush.

In a thin month for pub going, this pub:Lord Raglan (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/53029/) was a welcome port of call on a rare evening excursion.A regular outlet for Goacher's,though this time I had a hopbomb from Westerham. This always was a well thought-of pub, though I never used it as often as I would have wished.

A trip to Hull earlier in the month provided some fine pubs but the best I found was The Minerva (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/53439/).

The trip to York provided some fine candidates, but in the end it came down to a choice of two. The Woolpack Inn (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/55941/) versus The Rook & Gaskill (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/55938/). Barely a cigarette paper between them, I'm plumping for the Woolpack, because as Moby noted, its ordinariness is a major part of its appeal. The sort of place you could settle down for a session and imagine as a local.

Moby noted, it's ordinariness
Good word, and spot on.

Thoroughly enjoyed the St Aldates Tavern as mentioned by Mr. Fastard above.

POTM Early Doors (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/82823/) in Daventry. The first place for a reliable pint in town.

Feck. I tried to buy that with the people of the Nags Head Reading. Glad it worked out well for the new tenants.
